Another birthday question - kind of house related
What would you do.
We are having Jack's 1st birthday in our backyard.
We have yet to finish putting up the PVC fence. We have it on the two front sides - but the perimeter of the yard still needs to be done.
I feel like there is always something more important to spend money on....but now with his first birthday approaching - should we suck it up and do the fence?
OR - is it not THAT big of a deal that we have this ugly fence up. I feel like - how can I have 100+ people here - with this ugly thing up.
UGH - I think I know where our tax money will be going.
But - if you girls don't think it's a big deal - maybe I'll just suck it up and deal with it.

Honestly, it really wouldn't bother me. It that's not a priority for you, then forgo it. People are there for DS's b-day. I would hate to think they're going to critique your yard

Diana....get out of my head!!!
Seriously...you saw my house....remember the cement and pavers...want to know why they were installed this summer? For Lucas' birthday! Now we are onto the fence. We want to get PVC fence around the entire backyard and a gate the 1/3 of the driveway...where the food will be served

Re: Another birthday question - kind of house related
Personally I would have other things to spend my $ on. Our fence too is an old wooden fence on 3 sides but I'm not worried about it...we're more worried about grading our property & then planting grass & maybe building a deck (although I don't see that happening by July 5).

DH is sooooo good with everything - but I feel like he may divorce me if I say I want this done.
I am going to call up the fence place now to see how much it would be to install so I have some numbers ready for him when he gets home.

Under normal circumstances Rich would be the same way but he has been dying to get the yards (front and back) in order so I have full agreement on this. Doesn't hurt that during the last bad wind that we had a section of our neighbor's fence came off...now it needs to be replaced
If I remember correctly...now might be a really good time with the fences...do it before spring to save some $$$

I just called Amendola's - they are the ones who installed our front gates and the railing to the stoop area - and got an amazing price. I will call DH after he's out of work - now I WANT to get this done asap.
I am sick and need help!

Re: Another birthday question - kind of house related
Diana, just remember that it could be worse. Our backyard, beyond our very nice brick patio, is covered with playground rocks. Yes, playground rocks (The previous owners had a mega playgym in our not-so-large backyard.)
Getting rid of these rocks is definitely a priority for us, but I have no idea how we would do it before a birthday party

i dont think it is a big deal at all.. Who cares! Dont sweat the small stuff. It really is not a big deal and are people really going to be paying attention to the fence or your DC. .I would hope your DC. Not to worry.

I am a freak when it comes to things being perfect. If you have the money to install the fence go for it........if not I would try to make it look as best I could with balloons and outdoor plants.

Re: Another birthday question - kind of house related
We plan on only doing the front with PVC eventually. I couldn't give a crap who doesn't like my two toned wooden fence in my backyard. If they have something to say, then they should give me a few grand to have it installed on my 100 x 100 property.
Seriously...you will probably be the only one that notices it on that day...

Re: Another birthday question - kind of house related
I just spoke to DH - he agrees with me that we need to get it done.
The house to the right of me --- I'm so not a fan of their backyard at all. I know it's not MY house - but still an eyesore.
We have to do it eventually - so may as well have it done for the party.
I am calling the guy now - thank you all for your responses!
