Another c-section question - TMI
Did you have a catheter? If so, for how long?
I try not to think about it but a tube inserted "there" is freaking me out a bit.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Yes, they inserted a catheter. They did it after I got my spinal, so I did not feel it go in. They inserted it at 3:30 PM on Tuesday, & took it out at 9:30 am on Wednesday. The nurse came in several times & measured my "output."
I did not feel them take it out either. It just felt like I had to pee when they removed it. I also did not feel it "working."

Yes I did. Didn't even feel it. Had it in for less than a day. Don't worry too much about it.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Yes you will have a catheter, they will most likely put it in while you are numbed though. I didn't even feel or see them do it. The curtain was up. They will take it out so that you can walk around asap. Usually the next morning, if not sooner.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Yes. My c-section was at 7:30pm and they took it out the next morning.
I didn't feel it go in because I already had the spinal when it was done. It also didn't hurt when they took it our. However, it took a while for my body functions to return to normal.

I too was freaked out when I heard I would get one. Honestly, you do not even feel it go in and I didn't feel a thing when it came out either .

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Yes, I am pretty sure all c-sections require a catheter. I was fine with DS1 because they put in the catheter after the epidural. Didn't feel a thing until they took it off, which hurt for just a second but just felt more weird than anything.
With DS2, they put the catheter in before the spinal. It was one of the worst, most uncomfortable feelings I've ever felt. Like my body kept telling me I had to pee but my mind was saying, no, don't pee yourself!
With my next child, I will INSIST that it be put in after the anesthesia!

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
I had a vaginal birth and I had a cath, I didn't know they put it in and they took it out just as my epi wore off, so I didn't feel it then either.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
I got one after I had my epi at around 8 Monday night.
They took it out Wednesday morning at around 10. Megan was born on Tuesday at 2 55 in the afternoon.
I didnt feel a thing going in or coming out. I actually liked having it because I couldnt pee on the bed pan at all and I felt like I had to go so much when in labor. It really was a relief when they put it in.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Yes, but it does not hurt going in or out. You don't have it in for that long, maybe 1 hour or a few hours after the surgery.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
I had one. Honestly, I thought it was the best thing ever! I had it in for about 24 hours and they took it out once I was able to get out of bed and walk to the bathroom myself. I did not feel them put it in or out.

Yes. They inserted it after my spinal was working, so I never felt it. Took it out the day after the section.

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Dont worry about it. I was kind of worried as well but it was no problem. They put it in right before my c-section and took it out the following day. I forgot it was even there and then remembered that it was wierd that I hadnt had to get up to pee every 15 minutes!

Re: Another c-section question - TMI
Had one for an operation. Was freaking out about it before the surgery. It was a total non-issue, though. I'm ready for it for my C-section. It sounds like something painful but it isn't. I thought I would still get the sensation of having to pee but I don't think I did.
