Another example of stolen dogs - this one by a dog shelter owner!
It makes me wonder how many dogs she sold before. 
From Newsday:
An Oceanside animal shelter operator who took in two dogs running loose lied to their rightful owner, first saying that she didn't have them, then that the pedigreed pooches had escaped, police said.
Nassau County police arrested Diane Indelicato, 46, owner of the Ruff House animal shelter on Long Beach Road, and charged her with fourth-degree criminal possession of stolen property. She was released on an appearance ticket and is scheduled for arraignment in First District Court in Hempstead on Oct. 14, police said.
Police said the two dogs - a 3-year-old maltipoo and a 4-year-old shih tzu - were brought to the shelter by a passerby who found them in Baldwin.

When the owner came to reclaim the dogs, police said Indelicato told the owner the dogs had escaped.
The dogs are valued at about $1,800, police said. They were later recovered in New Jersey.

Her license to run a shelter should be taken away.

I saw a picture of the dogs on the news and I wonder if it was taken when they were first brought to the shelter. They looked severely neglected. So I wonder if she lied b/c she didn't want to release the dogs back to the original owner. 
Just a thought.
I cant seem to find that picture. It was on channel 4 this morning
