Another ? for moms of 2 year olds...

are they biting/hitting/pinching? Yes, my beautiful little angel is a bruiser. We've tried ignoring it, time outs, yelling, hitting her hand, taking away her favorite stuffed animal...and nothing.
Can you believe this kid could be so mean?Chat Icon

He sure is. He bit my mother the other day -broke the skin and left a bruiseChat Icon . He actually did it b/c he was playing rough and was excited, not because he was being bad.

He does pinch and hit me when I pick him up and take him away from something he is doing that he likes.

I put him in a time out when he hits me and then he tries hitting me from his chairChat Icon Chat Icon .

Nah, she's innocent. Just look at her!

It's usually because they're frustrated & no one is listening to them or they can't find the words to say what's wrong.

Try giving her the words you want her to use, eg "I'm angry." "I'm sad.", etc.

They are not 2 yet but, yes. Fiona especially. Chat Icon I know it's a phase. But, it's one of the worst ones at this age.

Not proud of it but my ds (monster child) is 2 yrs old and his trick for the past 2mos is spitting. I do not know where he learned it but all I know is I wish it would stop.

Not so much anymore but she definitely went through a phase. It usually starts up when I'm not giving her enough attention. I nipped it in the bud pretty quickly with timeouts and discipline.

Now, if she bites me, or pinches, all I have to do is give her the "look" and she runs over, strokes my arm and says "gentle, nice, sorry mommy" and gives me a kiss Chat Icon

she looks so innocent...don't they allChat Icon Bella is a big "MINE!" one, she'll take a toy and say mine...it's embarrassing and we keep enforcing that she should NOT do that...her teacher says they ALL go through this phase, but it's hard to see.

She gets angry and puts her forearm in her mouth, but has stopped biting herself (guess she realizes how much it hurts)

I guess it's just the age.

Ohhhhhhhhhhh we are SO in that phase. Yesterday, on the way to the Aquarium, Alex was stiing in her carseat, saying "MY car". I looked back and said, uh-uh Alex, this is Mommy's car. She smirks, and starts screaming "my car, my car, my car, my car" for about 10 mins Chat Icon

Yes, Nate has started hitting the baby. It's really frustrating bc I have to keep my eyes on him at ALL times. When you raise your voice at him he thinks it's funny, time out doesn't phase him, so I'm at a loss.

He is so into the "mine" phase. He doesn't want to baby to play with anything. We used his Chicco stroller to go out quickly and he had a fit when we put the baby in it. He just kept saying "no mine, baby out!" over and over.

I really don't think it's a lack of attention...she gets sooo much attention from everyone. If anything, maybe too much!

And I've heard of children who have not started to speak acting out like this because they get frustrated and can't communicate it, but Cassidy speaks like a 40 year old woman, so I know that's not the problem. I'm just at a total loss what to do to stop this behavior!!!!Chat Icon

I am having the same problem. Carlie speaks very well. I think it is just a phase. We have been using timeouts. It seems to be working, although this week she started bitting herself now and saying "NO bitting." Hopfully this phase passes quickly...

My two yr. old daughter has a tremendous vocabulary too...and so far, no biting or pinching here. I pray it does not happen now, especially since she's about to go to pre-school!Chat Icon

yes he is a "slapper" he slaps right on other babies' faces. Sometimes as soon as he meets them and they smile at him he slaps them one.

It is so embarassing and frustrating. I noticed it "increases when he is tired.

He does it mostly to toddlers his age and younger babies. He loves to play with older children and never has raised a hand to them. He is a little bully!
