another funeral / etiquette question

My friend's grandma died a few days ago. I'm stupid and didn't order a floral arrangement to send to the funeral home in time. About 4 of us want to chip in just to let the family know we're thinking about them. My friends are suggesting edible arrangements but I somehow don't think that's appropriate. What else can we do / send?

Re: another funeral / etiquette question

fruit/gift basket from Harry & David.

when my grandmother passed away someone had sent us a basket of assorted english muffins and jams. it sounds weird but we really enjoyed them. it was such a hectic and emotional period that the last thing on our mind was breakfast so it was nice to have. and they were delicious. from Wolfermanns...check out the link

You can still send them a floral arrangement.

i would send hot food Chat Icon when my dad passed, people sent hot food and it was great bc we didnt have to worry about cooking!!

i would just call a local italian place and order a half tray of something, chicken or pasta. Edible arrangements are a good idea also!

It is a nice way to let the family know you are thinking about them. When one of my clients wife passed away we sent the family a cookie basket from Cheryl & co...they had young children and it was something for them.

do you have a manhatten bagel near you, they make trays with bagels and muffins, pastries. Then give you the option of OJ or coffee

I agree about the hot food- my best friend ordered us a pan of chicken parm & some salad when my grandfather died and it was by far the best thing we got- cause no one was up to cooking!

I agree. When my dad passed away we couldn't even think about cooking or shopping. Having ready made food was a blessing. Even bagels, coffee and danishs are a good idea as well.
