another iui question
Sorry for all the questions, this is my first time doing an IUI. Does the IUI hurt and after it is done do you have to stay off your feet? TIA!!

Re: another iui question
It doesn't hurt that much it kinda feels like a pap smear , they you a speculum to open you up then they put the catheter into your uterus. it literally takes about a minute. They make you sit for about 10 minutes with your feet in stir ups. I depends on your dr though how long they tell you to stay there. A lot of times they will to a sono before hand to see if you have ovulated yet. I find that more painful than the actual IUI .

Re: another iui question
It doesn't hurt but the speculum can be uncomfortable. They'll probably have you lie down for a few minutes afterwards but then you can resume normal activity. They'll probably tell you to avoid heavy lifting or strenuous exercise for a few days. Good luck!

Re: another iui question
It was a little more uncomfortable than a normal pap. They had me lie in the room for 10 minutes than I could leave and go back to normal activity. I had no pain after.
Good Luck!

Re: another iui question
if the OPK is positive it usually means O time is what..24-36hrs away. see what the test your using says.
I've had 4 iUIs done. its uncomfortable, but not painful. My last one was b/c my uterus is titled back and it puts my cervix in a weird spot. the dr had a hard time getting the cathether in.
my dr. makes me lay there for 15-30 min with the speculum in. after that you're free to go about your day if you're feeling ok.
