Another Jury Duty Question
My husband just got a summons in the mail. His week is Dec. 9th and his number is W3205.
So my question....
Do you think he will be called?
We are going away on December 20th for 2 weeks...should we be concerned?
He has an IEP for dyslexia. He requires a reader amd scribe for all exams and I had to fill out the questionnaire. If he is called, I am going to have him bring it because he truly has difficulty with reading and filling out stuff. Anyone ever encounter a similar situation and what accommodations did they offer?
Thanks!

Bring proof of the trip and they will dismiss him most likely but definitely bring the IEP

Re: Another Jury Duty Question
You can definitely postpone once. You call a number and do it all via phone. You can chose the date you postpone too- i think up to 6 months in the future I want to say? With the trip coming up, I'd probably do that and make it for a better week in the future- just in case.

Re: Another Jury Duty Question
Typically the judge asks for reasons you think you should be dismissed and a planned vacation usually is ok. If it's a 2-3 day case, then he'd still be able to serve.
I would not postpone. December is a slower time for the courts anyway.

Re: Another Jury Duty Question
I just served on a jury over the summer. I don't remember filling anything out and there was nothing we had to read so I don't think that will be an issue. I was on a 3 day malpractice case which was not a horrible experience. 2 of the days we were done by 1, so for me, it was better than being at work.
