UGH... got a jury duty questionnaire in the mail today and I have a question...
Not too thrilled last time I got one and served for about 5 minutes, I had a dr's note and work p/t. Anyway, I was called in my maiden name b/c I never changed my voting records. Well, that was changed now- b/c like clockwork w/ my luck, I will be called in both names... anyway, if I have a dr's note and go the day I have to go, will they dismiss me, and then I am excused for however many yrs you get excused for? I have a legit medical condition... cannot handle stress, get migraines under stress, and a very bad back and sciatica.... They would not want me on a jury, I dry heave at certain things.... Part of me is looking forward to just getting out of work for the day. Are there new rules for 2009 w/ a dr's note? TIA

last time I went for jury duty they told us there are no outs.....doesn't matter about your work situation or childcare. Not sure about medical reasons though

You should read the questionnaire. I got one (in my maiden name to my parents address where I have not lived in more than 14 years) back in May when I was about 34 weeks pregnant. I simply filled it out saying that I am the sole caretaker of my at the time 23 month old daughter, and I was 34 weeks pregnant. Needless to say they sent me a letter just asking to mail them a copy of my daughters birth certificate so that they could remove my name.
There is a list on the form that tells you what qualifies you to be excused from serving. There should be something about medical necessity.
