Another LH Surge Question
My posts are always long-ish... I like to be thorough!
So, last cycle, here is the rundown: CD26: I got a smiley that afternoon CD27: Smiley in the morning and evening CD28: No smiley So, basically, I was getting the surge for like 36 hours.
This cycle, I was trying to preserve digital OPKs, but I do use a combo of 3 different brands. I know it's crazy, but one brand I got at Big Lots (it was not 80¢ btw), and it expired this month so I question the validity.
I have found that non-digitals, show a positive earlier than digitals-- anyone else? Even though I really go by the digital because those are so cut and dry.
ANYWAY, I got a smiley yesterday morning (CD19), last night I did a reg OPK and it was positive. This AM (CD20) I did a digital and it was negative. The night before my positive I did a digital as well, it was negative, but I drank a lot of water at dinner. Not sure if that would have anything to do with it. So, I think my surge only lasted 24 hours this time.
Which brings me to my two questions: Is it normal for the period of your surge to fluctuate?
Is today my ovulation day?

Re: Another LH Surge Question
the LH is best detected in the afternoon, so test again this afternoon and see if you get another +OPK

I feel like that only makes sense for your first detection of the surge. I had a positive yesterday AM with FMU. Also last cycle, I had positives with FMU.
If I am still having my surge, I would still have it-- it doesn't make sense for it to drop, only to rise again.

Re: Another LH Surge Question
Hmm...so it sounds like:
CD18 - neg C19 - postive in the am and pm CD20 - neg
If today is CD20, then I think today is your ovulation day. You only ovulate for about 24 hours, so it would make sense to me (keep in mind I'm still fairly new at this ), that you would only get + on one day..that is what I get, anyway. The tests predict when you're about to O, so I don't think you get + on the exact day you O....make sense?
HTH!!

Re: Another LH Surge Question
yeah-- I get it. I was just curious about the length of time when my surge was evident. I know all the tests say that you will ovulate in 24 to 48 hours from when you get a + OPK. So, last cycle it was more like 36 to 48 hours. This cycle it was more like 24.
Because I got basically another half day of positives last cycle, I was wonder if this amount of time changes with people. KWIM?
Anyway-- that means I should be due for my period the day I come home from vacay-- now, should I wait to test til I come home or not?? That IS the question!
We are going away with my mom and stepdad, so it's not like it will be just us.
