Another PPD post - help, advice needed (UPDATED)
Is it possible that I have this at 9 months pp?
as you can tell from my other post, my life has been hectic lately...BUT, I find myself extremely sad, angry, hopeless, I cannot focus, cannot sleep well ( I am up until 1am most nights even though I am EXHAUSTED)
I am not even sure how to explain it but the best way is to say that I feel like a tiny fish in a huge pond...just lost !!!
I HATE feeling like this, I do not even recognize myself
I plan to call my doctor tomorrow, should I call my OB or my primary care physician?
thanks
UPDATE -
so I went to the OB, bawled my eyes out to the nurse AND the doctor
He gave me Celexa (20mg to start with) and I will see him again in 6 weeks. He also took blood to test me for a vitamin D deficiency or Thyroid issue

Re: Another PPD post
It's absolutely possible for you to have PPD 9 months after giving birth. Most doctors say it can show up any time in the first year and there's even some studies showing that the first two years leave a woman vulnerable to suffering from PPD. I would give your OB a call tomorrow, make an appt to talk about it and in the meantime, talk about how you're feeling. The more you talk about it, the more you will feel better. Hang in there and I have been there, so feel free to FM me or message me on fb, etc.

I am calling 1st thing in the am. I hope they can help me. I just want to be ME again to enjoy my kids, enjoy my life and feel like normal
I feel like I am doing such a disservice to my kids, I feel like the worst mom ever
I was crying in my room before and miki came in and gave me her stuffed dog Clifford and said "here mommy, clifford will cheer you up, you can sleep with him"
I have him right next to me and he IS cheering me up....gosh I love that kid and I hate that she has to see me so sad

Re: Another PPD post - help, advice needed
It's so incredibly hard to be a mom without thinking you have PPD, and then add that to the mix and it's near impossible to feel like you can do it. I know. Just know that your perception is probably off because of how you're feeling and you are every bit as good a mom as I know you've always been. But you need to take care of you, and it's so hard to do that sometimes. So make it a point to take care of yourself and get your life back. You are worth that and when you're happier, everything else will fall into place.

You will enjoy things again, for sure. I'm not a medical expert but I find that so many people want to know if they have PPD, yet the label may not matter because if you are suffering from anxiety and/or depression to the extent where you might need/want medication, so many of the treatments are the same whether it truly PPD or an episode of depression. You're adjusting to life with a child, or in your specific case, life with a second child, and even if the hormones are not the cause, you should probably talk to a professional. Do you sleep enough? Is that a silly question? I think sleep is key, yet so many of us have no way to get the right amount of it .

So well put. You will be yourself again. Noticing it and doing something about it is the first stop.

not lately, I am exhausted from dealing with miki's nighttime drama but I usually cannot fall asleep until 12:30 and I am up at 6:30. I never feel rested though

Re: Another PPD post - help, advice needed
Glad you are calling, it's so important not to ignore this.
It may be PPD, it may be overall anxiety who knows. Whatever it is, there is something you can do about it and I'm glad you are going to make that call.
I told you I went through PPD when each of my kids was born-don't let it linger, you do not have to be miserable and sad. There is a better way-you are a wonderful mom/wife and have wonderful kids and a wonderful life, you should be able to enjoy that

Re: Another PPD post - help, advice needed
I had no idea this could happen, but after I weaned Josh at 18 mos, I hit a complete wall. I happened to have an pap appt, brought it up to dr that I am feeling out of sorts, he said it is common to feel that after nursing...and that was 18 mos!

GOOD FOR YOU!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! So glad you took charge of this, I'm sure your OB (and his nurse ) have seen this same exact thing many many many times.
I hope the rx makes you feel a little less anxious, and you can start to feel a little more like your old self. Not that you're old, you know what I'm saying
