Another question - retrieval day?

Did you all take the full day off work when you had your retrieval or were you able to go back to work after?

Just trying to figure out if I need to cancel a holiday dinner on Monday night Chat Icon

Re: Another question - retrieval day?

I took the whole day off. From what I remember though I was told that I could go to work after as long as I take it easy, no heavy lifting etc. Anyway I was glad I took the day off, I felt like I needed to lay down after. All the stress of the day was just too much. BTW I didn't have any pain after. But then again they only retrieved 5 eggs from me so I'm sure that has a lot to do with it.

Good Luck!

Re: Another question - retrieval day?

My doctor said I shouldn't go to work but I had no choice, I needed to take off the day of the transfer so I just went in. I wasn't in pain just uncomfortable. They don't recommend it because of the anesthesia.

It's no problem taking off but I guess I should cancel the dinner seeing as it's with work friends.

i actually had dinner plans with friends the night of my retrieval also. i asked the doctor what to do and he said i would DEF not want to go. so we cancelled. im so glad i did cause that was about the time the pain meds were wearing off and i started to feel a little like i got hit by a truck in the abdomen. if its no big deal i would def cancel.

I would definitely take the day. They retrieved 32 eggs from me and I was in bad shape. I didn't take any pain meds, but that was stupid. I went to work the next day and felt horrible. I actually felt my best the day of retrieval. I stayed home the whole weekend and even Monday because I wanted to be in good shape for the transfer on Tuesday. My retrieval was on Thursday. Honestly, I think my case was rare and because of the number of follicles. Definitely don't put your body through too much.

I was fine right after ..I had already taken the day off so I didn't go back to work but I totally could have. I think the More follies you have the more uncomfy you are..I only had 12.

With my number of follicles (maybe 2 if I'm lucky) I probably won't feel a thing, but I told them I won't be in anyway. I wouldn't mind so much if I wasn't missing dinner at Seraphina! Maybe they will get me a doggie-bag.

Re: Another question - retrieval day?

I had 5 ERs (yes 5!) and always went to work right after since I needed the days off after transfer....I was at work by 11:30am all those times....

I average 16 eggs (the most I had was 19) and never had any pain, never spotted and no one at work had any clue I just came back from a nice nap!!!!

Don't worry! Don't cancel your dinner!

GL!

Re: Another question - retrieval day?

Well, it has all changed now - retrieval day is Tuesday and I have yet another dinner that night! Sandra said I should have no problem going to a 6 p.m. dinner. I'm going to rest at my friend's apartment afterwards and meet up with everyone in time for dinner.
