Another question..Buying used furniture for baby #2?
I have been thinking of buying used furniture for baby #2 to save a little money. DD will still be in her crib and it's convertible so she will continue to use it. What is everyone's feeling, good or bad, on purchasing a crib, dresser and changing table from some place like Craigslist?

This is something that I have been thinking about as well, if I can not get DD out of the crib by the time #2 comes - not that #2 is on the way yet

As long as it's relatively new, it should be fine. Really old stuff doesn't have the newer safety issues addressed. Lead paint (REALLLLLY old furniture), slats too far apart, corner posts, etc.
I think the main thing to look for is that the corner posts don't stick up much above the railings. Kids have gotten seriously hurt in the past on those things.

Re: Another question..Buying used furniture for baby #2?
I've thought about it but decided to just get a 3-1 crib instead of the 5-1. My DD's bed has been convereted to a full size bed for over 2 years now. I thought about getting her new furniture and giving DD#2 the set up but I have furniture and all I need is a crib. I'll have a twin size bed in the nirsery as well so it only made sense to go cheaper on the crib. I see nothing wrong with getting a used crib. you only use it for a short amount of time. My DD never slept in her crib there for we converted it at 11 months.
