Another refinishing wood floor question

How long does it typically take? We are in contract for a house, we should get our closing date any day now, we just got the mortgage commitment last week. I want to do the floors before we move in because I am pregnant and I figure this will give it time to air out before we move in. I am just doing the downstairs, the house is a cape, I am going to say it's probably less than 1,000 sq ft.

Once you decide to go with a company, is there usually a long wait, or is it something that they can generally start next day. I am sure every company is different, but I am just curious what general experience has been.

Ours took a week. One day to sand, and stain, wait a day, stain and poly the next day, wait a day, poly again. Def do it beofre you move in. We did, and I came in one day to take pics, I could barely breathe with the smell.
