Re: Another robitussin question
I bought Rite Aid brand, "Tussin", and it said 4 tsp. every 6 hours. I took it twice a day. I'm not a doctor, so don't go by me, but 8 tsps. a day made me see a difference in CM.
I'm thinking 2 tsps. every 4 hours pretty much evens out to 4 tsps. every 6 hours. So go for it, and good luck!

OK, I am on CD11 and going to stop after work to pick up some Robitussin after reading about it so much! I should get the one that only has the guafenesin in it right?

I got robitussin DM. I didn't see any without the DM so I just figured it was fine. It does have guafenesin as an active ingredient though.
I don't know if this will help but I took Robitussin the week before I ovulated and then the week of my ovulation I switched to Mucinex which has so much more guafenesin in it. I think I took quite often - I think about every 4 hours and always an hour before bd. The month I did that I had so much ewcm and got my BFP. Don't know if it was coincidence but when I ttc again I will definately be doing it this way again. Oh, and I bd every other day and actually missed my ovulation day

I got the Robitussen with only guafenesin in it...I don't think you are supposed to have it with the DM in it....I found this online:
What is Robitussin used for? Robitussin is a brand name of a product that is based on guaifenesin, an expectorant. There are other guaifenesin based cough syrups also (Equate also has one). It is used in TTC to thin the CM mucus to make it more sperm-friendly. 1-2 tsp. twice daily until ovulation. Make sure the product only contains guaifenesin without added decongestants or antihistamines, which could dry your CM. BEWARE:Dextromethorphan, an ingredient in some cough medicines, may cause birth defects.

Re: Another robitussin question
i am not sure i understand the whole point of taking Robitussin? Don't cold and allergy medicines DRY you out? wouldn't it also dry you out in terms of CM as well?

Re: Another robitussin question
Robitussin loosens mucus. That means mucus in the nose, lungs, or anywhere in your body (including your cervix). The ingredient that makes this happen is Guafinessin (sp?). Any other ingredients may actually dry up cervical mucus. If you buy Robitussin to aid in TTC, you should make sure that Guafinessin is the only active ingredient, and that there are NO LETTERS after the Robitussin.
I'm not trying to be the TTC police here, just trying to get as much helpful info out there as I can.
Good luck to all!!!!

Re: Another robitussin question
I ended up getting the CVS brand Mucinex chest congestion pills that have 400mg of guafenesin and nothing else. I bought them instead of the liquid since the liquid only has 100mg. I have been taking them since last night around every 4 hours (and I took two at the same time last night to help jump start it!!)
