Another temp/chart question - Sorry
I went to bed at 12am. This is rare, but I woke up in the middle of the night and just temped automatically thinking it was my regular wake up time, but when I was done, I realized it was only 2:55. I wrote down my info anyway, went to the bathroom and figured I would temp again when I woke up. When I woke up again at 5:45 and temped, it had dropped. At 2:55 my temp was 98.9 and at 5:45 it was 98.6. Since neither one of those temps were after a full three hours of sleep, I am not sure which one would be more accurate to chart. Any suggestions/ideas would really help a lot since I donot have my TCOYF handy. Thanks!

Leslie- are you in the 2WW? If so, then the temp doesn't really "matter" as much (since you're not trying to gage O time). I would log in the first number, but make a note that it was an irregular sleep pattern.
Funy how "automatic" temp taking becomes, huh?

Re: Another temp/chart question - Sorry
Woah, that's weird - I almost posted this question yesterday. The difference was my 2:20am temp was exactly the same as my previous day's temp, then it went up by .2 when I woke up at my normal time.
I actually would chart the 2nd temp as it's your normal temp time v. middle of the night.
I would write in the comments section (assuming you're using FF) the other temp and time. In a few days come back and look at it - it should be clear which temp makes more sense.

Yes, I am but as I get closer to the day when I would get AF, I get increasingly nutty. Shocker. I suppose it really doesn't matter if I am in the 2ww as whatever will be will be, but I am thinking this info might be helpful for temping in the future. Hopefully, I won't need it.

Actually, the second time was 10 minutes shorter.

I know I read it as 2:25 and then went back and edited my post - was hoping no one noticed my fabulous math skills

Do you still think I should chart the second time? Oh this is aggravating. My RE wants me to chart. I am not doing this voluntarily or willingly.

Yes I do. When I first started I was all hey, how hard can it be to take my temperature!
Because the difference is not 2 hours but rather 10 minutes, IMO it's basically negligible. So, forgoing that, you're left with 2 temps, one at a wonky time (2:55am) and one at your normal time. As I said, though, I would make a note of the time and temp ( I sound like a Commerce commercial) of the other one and in another 2 days take another look, see which seems to make sense. You can also opt to discard today's temp entirely.
I hope this is your only month doing this

Re: Another temp/chart question - Sorry
I took my temperature when I first woke up in the night and then again at my usual wake-up time. Which temperature should I use?
In general, you should use the temperature from your regular wake-up time. If you get up in the night for any reason and you know that you will go back to sleep and wake again at your usual wake-up time, resist the urge to take your temperature. Taking your temperature more than once usually just leads to confusion and will often make you lose more sleep.
If you are not sure that you will be able to go back to sleep, you can take your temperature, but only use it on your chart if you are not able to go back to sleep. Always enter any special circumstances in the notes section of your chart so that you will remember what conditions might be affecting a temperature reading.
If you have learned through charting over several cycles that you are more likely to get an accurate reading after your longest resting time, rather than by taking your temperature at the same time, (when it is not possible to do both) then you can use the temperature that was taken after the longest sleep period. Over time (if necessary) you will learn the way your own temperature reacts to changes in waking and sleeping times.
Hope this helps!!
