Another vaccination q from those that have looked into this - Did anyone space out or delay or opt out of the 8 week shots?

I havent' really looked into this yet and tomorrow is my last ped appt before the 2 mo vacc appt so I want to know what to ask for. I think the vacc they usually get are:

DTaP (Diphtheria, Tetanus, acellular Pertussis), Polio (IPV), Comvax (Hepatititis B/Haemophilus influenzae b)

Plus DS will have to get the HEP B since he did not get it at the hospital.

Is there anything with respect to these I should be concerned about? TIA Chat Icon Chat Icon Chat Icon

DD is almost 2 and has not had Hep B yet.
We also did not start any vaccinations until 5 months and if we weren't traveling out of the country I would have delayed longer.
She still has not had her MMR shot and has never gotten a flu shot.

Re: Another vaccination q from those that have looked into this - Did anyone space out or delay or opt out of the 8 week shots?

this is my schedule for shots.

6 weeks-HIB1
8 weeks-PNEU1
10 weeks-DTaP1
13 weeks-IPV1
15 weeks-HIB2
17 weeks-PNEU2
20 weeks-DTaP2
23 weeks-IPV2
27 weeks-HIB3
29 weeks-PNEU3
31weeks/7months-DTaP3
39 weeks/9months-IPV3
12 months-HIB4
12 1/2 months-PNEU4
13 months-DTaP4
13 1/2 months-Hep1
14 months-Hep2
15 months-MMR
16 months-Varicella (chickenpox)
18 months-Hep3

My doctors have no problem with it because insurance pays. Insurance should pay no matter what because kids get sick and sometimes can't get a shot. Then when they go back to make it up they might be into their next round and you can't give a kid 4 shots at once.

The biggest laugh to me is the Hep B shot becaus eyou just know that when we go to sleep when we are in the hospital after giving birt, those babiesare having S e x in the nursery so we'd better give them that shot right away instead of protecting them against the things they could and get really sick from like Whooping cough.

For me it was piece of mind. No one is sure about what might cause problems with kids even though I'm not truly sold on it. If shots do eventually come into being a factor, I'm exposing my child a little less rather than all at once.

And they are so small-why are we overloading them with so many shots at once? What if there is a reaction? How will I know what shot caused it? I still comply with the vaccinations it just gets spread out a little longer. HTH

ETA: I came up with this schedule after I received a flyer from the CDC stating when kids should get their shots. This schedule falls within the CDC guidelines but like I said before it's just spread out.

So far DS had only 2 vaccines at a time.

I am planning on spacing them to one at each visit.

My son has only gotten 1-2 vaccines per visit. That's just the way my Dr does it, but I'm happy with it.

My DD had the DTaP and Polio vaccination. We're doing two at each visit b/c my ped felt that all the shots together is too much for a newborn.

Hep B: at Ped's office on his first visit
4 weeks: Rotovirus (given by itself by the ped, he does not like to mix with other vaccines).
