Another Wisdom Teeth question

Does anybody have impacted wisdom teeth but feel no discomfort so you don't plan on getting them pulled?

Did anybody get them pulled even though they were not bothered by them?

All four of mine are impacted but they don't bother me so what's the worse that can happen if I just don't get them pulled? Can I just ignore them? I'm terrified of having them pulled and don't want to go through it if it's not necessary.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

All 4 were impacted (no pain) but I had all four removed.

Honestly, it was painless. The after pain was not bad at all.

Two of mine were impacted, one hurt and the other one didn't. I had both pulled. The dentist told me even if the other one doesn't hurt, it could push my other teeth around, so better to get them both.

Does anybody have impacted wisdom teeth but feel no discomfort so you don't plan on getting them pulled? This was me for quite a few years, up until last month. My left side started to hurt.

Did anybody get them pulled even though they were not bothered by them? Now Friday, I'm getting the right side done, they don't hurt, but this is the side I wanted to get done first

When I went to get them pulled, the surgeon said oh you should have been here about 10 years ago (I'm 28) now its going to be a little bit harder -- I didn't think it was at all, that's why I'm going Friday for the other 2.

My main reason for getting them out -- other then the first 2 hurting, is that we want to start TTCing in the Summer and I don't want wisdom teeth to wake up and give pain while PG

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

I have one impacted and one has grown in. My dentist told me that I don't need to do anything about either one of them, since they aren't causing me any trouble.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

All of mine had a soft tissue impaction. I waited until I was in A LOT of pain to have each one taken out on seperate occasions. The pain was really bad and was bad timing each time- of course. Luckily I was still under my parents insurance.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

I have all in. My original dentist said I had room for them and I actually have 5. last year my teeth started to shift b/c of them so my dentist thought I should get them pulled. The oral surgeon said it wouldnt be necessary. I was back at the dentist this month and he said again they should get pulled.

What does this mean? Because I had that too.

What does partial bony impaction mean? I had this too.

TIA.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

I waited too long- I have one pulled when I was 20 but waited until this past year for the other 3. Unfortunately, my teeth have shifted and they aren't as straight as they were before.

They were all impacted and the surgery was fine. I was actually pregnant at the time and didn't know it!Chat Icon

I had the same problem--it really shifted my other teeth though 2 of mine were impacted. It is also a more difficult process the older you are--my last one I had done this year at 28, and the surgeon said he wished I had done it earlier....But all went fine.

It did cause my bottom teeth to shift so that the two middle teeth almost overlapped....I got braces AGAIN to fix the problem (which wasn't that noticable, but I was self-conscious about it).

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

Mine didn't bother me, but they were messing up the alignment of my teeth.

I think they do it so you don't have any problems in the future.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

I have mine in and they dont bother me, my dentist wanted to remove them, but I said no! The only problem is they can make the other teeth shift. So far mine are fine.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

I waited on all of mine until I felt pain, but I let the last one go a little too long. When I finally had it checked out the dentist sent me to an oral surgeon THAT AFTERNOON to have it removed because it was degenerating very quickly and almost turned into something very serious.

And my bottom teeth totally shifted and overlap now. I'm dying to get braces again.

I'm in the same boat. I'm not touching them until I feel pain.

Mine couldnt break all the way thru the gum. Half of it came up and the other half of the tooth was below the gum and it wasnt coming out.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

The younger you get them pulled the better. The calcium in your teeth solidifies in your 20's so it will be more difficult to do later. If you have insurance - I would just take advantage of getting them out and not having to worry later.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

My bottom wisdom teeth were impacted. I had them taken out when I was 17. They didn't bother me at all, but I think they were close to a nerve, so the dentist wanted to take them out.

Re: Another Wisdom Teeth question

My bottom two were impacted, and my top two were fine. I was getting bad headaches and my doctor said it could have been from my wisdom teeth. They say that the pressure from the impact could have been causing the headaches. I tried to hold off getting them pulled for a year because I was afraid but the surgery really wasn't bad.
