antibiotics at 2 weeks old for staph infection...
My poor boy had a rash that look like prickly heat with 2 whitehead zit looking things above his penis last week so I took him to the pedi. She gave us some antibiotic ointment to put on the area and she took a culture of the 2 whiteheads/puss filled areas. We went back today and she confirmed that it was staph and she put him on oral antibiotics for 10 days, 3x's a day. My baby is only 7 lbs and I hate to have him on antibiotics but I have no choice because I don't want the infection to spread anywhere else throughout his body. We have no idea where this came from. Dr. said it could have been from hospital or from circumcision aftermath or from having something on hands when changing him. It is a skin thing so he got it from contact and it wasn't something he ingested. Basically I have no idea where he contracted it from but I am freaked out. Anyone else have to have their DC on antibiotics at such a young age? He also has a terrible crusty eye from a blocked tear duct and I need to keep it clean but I feel so terrible for DS and I feel like I am a terrible mommy so far.
