Anxiety question....

I tried to ask the girls that are TTC but no one answered....I guess no one has had this problem.

Has any of you that suffer from anxiety taken medication while being pregnant or TTC? I know some doctors say it could cause birth defects and some doctors ok some medicine.

If you have been on medicine for your anxiety while being pregnant or TTC what kind was it?

Re: Anxiety question....

I took Celexa while TTC and when I was 1st p/g but my doc had me slowly wean off. I have been ok but will probably go back on right after I give birth. Because I developed anxiety after DD #1.

Re: Anxiety question....

I take Zoloft 50mg daily because I have GAD. Doctor actually recommended that I do not stop the medication, although, lately my anxiety levels have been horrible. I've been having panic attacks off and on. Chat Icon

Re: Anxiety question....

I stopped right before I became pregnant. It was very hard for me with first pregnancy and I had panic attacks all of the time. There are many safe meds to take though. I was told by my old OB to try an herbal suppliment called rescue remedy. I never tried it because I was too lazy. You can get it online or at Vitamin Shops - I have heard really good things.

Did your doctor warn you at all with any side effects?

Re: Anxiety question....

He wasn't concerned at all, the only thing he did mention is that their is a small correlation between fetus' exposed to SSRI's in the 3rd trimester and difficulties feeding, but their really is no proof it is from the meds alone. He felt it would be more harmful for me to be anxious and upset throughout the pregnancy
