Any accountants around? Have a tax question!
So DH takes classes at a local college (which will remain nameless to protect the not so innocent) and they sent out an email saying there was a problem with their system and they cannot print out and mail anyone's tax info (education credits or whatever it is they send you) for another 4 to 6 weeks!!!
Can they do this???? Can we get our taxes done before this? Isn't that illegal of them - don't they get fined?
Any info would be greatly appreciated!

Re: Any accountants around? Have a tax question!
not an accountant, but we had a similar problem last year with one of our investments and were told by our accountant that since they notified us ahead of time, all we could do was do the rest of our taxes, file for an extension, and then file once the paperwork came in. It came in like 2 days before taxes were due, so the accountant was able to add it in real quick and efile before 4/15.

you can file for an extension. you could also find all your tuition payments and use that number.

not an accountant, but had this problem last year. you can either file for an extension, or file your tax return and then file an amended tax return.
