Any advice on how to get my DC to eat "real" fruit

Okay so my son is 11.5 months old & is an amazing eater. However when it comes to "real" fruit he will only eat Bananas. Since its not good to give him bananas everyday, I still have to buy jarred fruit. I have tried watermelon, melon, pears & peaches (he loves pears & peaches from jar). He immediately spits it out & yes I have tried shoving it back in! I have...

1) given it on a spoon
2) " fork
3) left in front of him
4)tried night after night
5) tried hiding it in the jars
6)cut it differently
7)bought the delmonte fruit in cups

Is there anything else I could do?

TIA

Cailen loves strawberries - I know there can be allergies with them though, so be careful - I cut them up and he gobbled them up!

Wow really. When did you start giving them to him?

Pretty much, if it is on my plate, he will eat it. Maybe you can try that?
Also, if DH says, Mmmmm, DS will gobble it up! Chat Icon Chat Icon

At right around 12 mts - most of these foods he tried by accident (he had a peanut butter snack when he was 10 mts old at a party!)

We were out for breakfast and he wanted the strawberries on my stepdaughter's pancakes. I let him try it (they were already cut) and waited for the hives. When nothing happened and he screamed for more, I let him have a few more. Now, he can eat an entire cintainer!!!!

Have you tried having a side of dipping sauce? Dipping sauces have done great things with my DD. She never used to eat meat but now she will...with ketchup, of course!Chat Icon

But with fruit, if you are feeling experimental, you can mix up a little tahini (sesame seed paste), agave (natural sweetener sold in liquid form @ health food stores) & cinnamon. It's delicious & goes very nicely with peaches, pears, apples and strawberries. Dip the fruit in it & maybe he'll eat it.
