any advice with a short sale?

OK; so we put an offer in on a house that we are still countering. But in th emeantime, another house just dropped 100,000 6 houses down from this one because it went into short sale. so they are asking same as the one we put offer in on, but it has extensions which we would want on the other house already so we wouldnt have to do that... So, I have heard bad things about short sales and i am wondering if anyone has advice on what to do, because now we're stuck... Chat Icon Chat Icon

Re: any advice with a short sale?

We're in the process of buying a short sale. It took about 6 or 7 weeks to get approved, and we offered full asking price (house just appraised for 15k more than what we're paying).

There have been some issues - mostly with HOA violations that we'll have to take care of right away, but overall it hasn't been a terrible process.

Our realtor did, however, just close on a short sale w/ a client in January... and the client had put the offer in last March. If you really like the property, and don't have a strict timeline, they're good. But otherwise it can be a pain.

Re: any advice with a short sale?

I'm sorry I don't have any advice but I do have a question.
There was a short sale by me. I saw it on the market for 429 than it dropped to 379 and changed to a short sale about 2 or 3 weeks ago. Now I don't see the real estate sign any more... Is that normal?

I think so. We looked at several short sales and none of them had signs in front of them.
