Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
i.e. no cervadil or anything like that...
If so, can you tell me what your experience was?
TIA!

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I wasn't past due when I was induced, but both my daughters' births were pitocin induced.
Both births went relatively quickly and were largely uneventful vaginal births.
BTW- I was showing progress which is why my OB decided to induce both girls in my 40th week (39w5d, 39w3d).

Yup, I was. Went very well! Was given the pitocin, and once I had the epidural, things progressed very quickly. I think I went in around 2:30 and had DD at 10:50pm (2 1/2 hours of pushing).
I was already about 3cm dilated when he gave me the pitocin.
Good luck!

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I was 13 days overdue, I was supposed to have cervadil the night before but I had progressed enough, so I went in at 8 am, they started the Pitocin. I had my epidural @ noon, and dd was born at 5 pm, after 15 min of pushing
Good Luck! :)

I wasnt overdue, but I only 4 days before my due date and they induced me with only Pitocin. I had a great labor and an easy delivery. NO complaints here

My water broke about 6 days early. I never had any contractions, so they started Pitocin and I delivered about 6 hours later after 20 minutes of pushing.

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I was induced with only pitocin and it was a long process for me. I got hooked up around 7:00 am By 1:00 pm I was barely 2 cm. By 6:00 pm, I was only 6 cm, and by 3:15 am the next morning I was finally 10 cm.
After 2 1/2 hours of pushing, I ended up with a c-section.
Personally for me, everything was smooth sailing, but the contractions were def horribly painful!!!

I was 38 weeks with my twins and I was induced with pitocin only. My son was born less that five hours after it started.

same here...I was 5 CM, gave me pitocin to make my contractions more regular, got my epi and then got to 10CM within 4 hours or so and ended up pushing for only 10-15 min Good luck

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
It was good experience. I wasn't pst due (5 weeks early and leaking my water). Once given the pitocin- I got epidural within 20 mins- then had baby 20 mins after that. Very quick vaginal birth!!

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I was 1 week overdue, only had pitocin, and progressed from 2 cm to 10 by 9:30ish at night (I think). So it took me all day. Had epi around 5/6ish. But I had a vaginal birth, and after 1-2 hours of pushing DS came out.

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I was but it only got me to 8 cm after being on it for 14 hours. I was about 4 cm when it was started. I ended up with a csection.
But I am not the norm, and neither was my birth experience!

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I was induced when I turned 41 weeks. Was in my hospital bed by 7:30pm, expecting to need Cervadil. Thankfully, though I couldn't feel it, my body was already progressing on its own, so I didnt' need the Cervadil, just the Pitocin.
In my bed at 7:30pm, delivered DD at 2:30am. It did take me over an hour to push her out though, but I was exhausted and just couldn't do it effectively for a while.
Very positive birth story, hopefully it's just as good the next time around

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
I was three weeks early and had contractions. I was induced with pitocin, but was there for 28 hours!
My water broke, and the doc gave me another hour- if DS wasn't going to come out he was giving me a c/s. In 15 minutes things starting happeneing, and within the hour DS was born. It was a long process.

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
with ds #1 i was at 4 cm when they started the pit... it was started at 7pm and i delivered at 2pm the next day.. but they had to get that dose very high and the be honest i think if they had just broken my water earlier it would have been a shorter process since it took 45 minutes to get from 4-10 cm after they broke my water
with ds#2 they gave me pit after they broke my water just to get the contractions alittle stronger since i wasnt feeling any of them... that delivery was extremely fast....

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
Both my births were just pictocin induced- one was a regular vaginal delivery(I was already in labor, fully dilated, I just didn't contract on my own). The second one ended in a C-section- not due to the pictocin but because he was so big that he wasn't dropping. His heart rate got irregular and they didn't want to take any chances. Turns out he was almost 2 pds bigger than his sister so I would have never got him through my birth canal anyhow.
I think as long as you are dilated already, pictocin is fine. I never contracted on my own and needed the help. I thought both deliveries were fine, but more painful than if I just had regular contractions on my own.

Re: Any BTDT mommies that were past due and induced with only Pitocin?
With my 3rd son I only had pitocin and I had to have a c-sec because after 15hrs I still wasn't dialating and his heart rate was dropping. But to be honest I don't think I can dialate on my own because with my 1st and 2nd I had to have the cervadil and pitocin.
