How do you plan to tell your class/parents? My kids' parents make me nervous because in my building parents have gotten really annoyed that they didn't know their child's teacher would go out and they wouldn't have put their child in that class had they known. I don't get it cause we are allowed to have a life too! Anyway just wondering how and when you are planning to tell. Thanks!

I am going to have that issue too but its closer to the end of the year than mid year. Problem is that I am going to be due right before standardized testing (I teach 3rd grade). I think that the parents are going to flip. They are just going to have to deal with it. Sorry I don't have much advice b/c I am in the same boatChat Icon

I feel the same way. I'm due in March but I teach K so no testing. I just feel like parents don't understand that we can't plan our lives around the school year.

I'm due in January. I'm sure the parents will find out early on in the school year...I'll be showing at open school night! I'm a special education teacher - I push into the classroom and pull some for resource room. I think they'll be ok with a transition to a new person by January. The parents are just gonna have to understand! Hopefully you can overlap with your leave so that there's an easier transition and the parents can get comfortable with the new person.

I will be going out in late January and school starts for us the first week in August. I don't think my parents are going to have an issue with it, as they kept hoping my husband and I would eventually have a baby of our own. We've worked there for a few years and I think they are going to be very excited.

My principal on the otherhand... the jury is still out b/c every time I have tried to meet with him this summer to tell him, he hasn't been in the building. I don't want to tell him over the phone or email.Chat Icon
