Any experience with trigger shots and O- is this normal?
As I had mentioned last week, my RE did not want us trying this cycle due to the amount of eggs I had. So she ordered a trigger shot which DH gave me on Saturday night. She said after the shot I would O in the next 40 hours. (Which would be anywhere from Sat night until Monday I'm assuming?)
Yesterday morning and last night I had cramps and this morning I woke up with AF-like cramps.
Does anyone know if this is a side effect of the trigger shot or if I'm just supposed to get AF right after the shot?
All this TTC is so confusing to me.

I don't know about a side effect, but the trigger shot tells you body to ovulate and release the eggs. I am assuming you would then go through the normal process of the cycle and you should get AF in about 2 weeks. I had a trigger shot for my IUI and I o'd after the shot and then went into the 2ww.

you might be having ovulation pain. Once you do the trigger you will usually O within 36 hrs and then you would have roughly 2 weeks til AF (your LP).
And Im not sure why yoru dr wouldnt want you to . She can't see hwo many eggs you have just how many follies and not every follie even contains an egg.

Thanks ladies.
Allison- dr. said no because she said the fact that I'm young and have a lot of eggs put me at high risk for mutiples. Also, she said since its only our first month trying she doesn't want to risk it.

Re: Any experience with trigger shots and O- is this normal?
So I decided to google "effects of trigger shot" and discovered cramping and bloating are both side effects. (beware of massive vent approaching)...
Makes sense now (I was wondering why my tummy was so huge today- its the bloating). So not only do I have to go through the cramping and bloating now from the shot but I have to deal with again in another 2 weeks when AF comes.

Yes, definitley lots of cramps and bloating and fluid build up. Sometimes the follies rupture (like they should) but re-fill with fluid and you get pain a few days later. But AF sould come basically 2 weeks later.

Thanks for confirming- sounds exactly what I'm dealing with now. I couldn't sleep last night the cramps were so bad. And to top it off I feel so gross and bloated.

I thought clomid helped produce more follicles. I guess I've been thinking the wrong thing.

The follicles contain eggs.

I heard garotade works. I also take gas x b/c sometimes I get sharp pains like you get when you have gas under your ribs, but I get them in my ovaries. I'm not sure if its even helping, but I take it anyway.
Feel better!
