Any feedback you can share on Montessori nursery school?
Currently looking into placing son in montessori nursery school. But concerned about the negative feedback I've heard of. We are planning to enroll in public school Prek later but that will not be until Sept 2011.
I would appreciate any feedback/opinions and thoughts any nassau county montessori school/nursery programs.
Thanks in advance@

Re: Any feedback you can share on Montessori nursery school?
I don't live on Long Island so I can't comment on specific schools, but here's my take on montessori... I used to teach creative movement classes at tons of nursery schools and daycares in my area and I found that kids in more structured programs then monetssori offered were much better behaved and followed directions better. Now of course there are and were exceptions to every rule. A few montessori teachers who were more strict with their students had better behaved children, and a few laid back teachers in structured schools had unruly students. But as a general rule, I enjoyed going into more structured schools/classrooms then the Montessori schools. I think Montessori can be really beneficial, but I find it so at an older age.

I had my sons in 2 different Montessori preschools and 2 non-Montessori, and my observations were the same as the poster before me. I found that after being in a Montessori prek, my older son had a hard time adjusting to public school kindergarten.
