Any former dancers on here?
What kind of dance did you do? Do you still have it in your life at all?
I did ballet for 14 years and wish I still did it for myself. I have my portable barre and my toe shoes but that's about it. Any adult ballet classes around?

I danced classical ballet for 16 years straight then after a break, took some classes in college. I definitely miss it at times - the flexibility, mostly - but not enough to get back into it apparently. 
Where did you dance?

I am! I danced ballet, tap, jazz, pointe and lyrical. I went to LA Dance Studio in Lindenhurst/Massapequa. We competed at Tremaine, NYC Dance Alliance, Starpower etc..

I danced my whole life up until I went to college. Last year I quit my job at a newspaper and went to work with my mom, who owns a dance studio. We teach tap, jazz, ballet and hip hop in Purchase. I'm so glad I switched jobs, I'm much happier now.

I danced and did baton twirling all through school, and then I worked for a professional ballet company for 6 years. I still work in dance now, but I work for a venue.
There are lots of places in Manhattan that have open classes (ABT does 6-7:30 monday through Thursday near Union Square), and lots of local studios offer at least one adult class a week.
But if you're really stuck, try Pilates. To me it's the closest thing to ballet, really allows you to stretch out in a way that you can't with other stuff like Yoga, etc.

Me. I've been dancing for 23 yrs now. Im trained in ballet, tap, jazz, modern, lyrical, acro, hip hop. I competed around the country for about 10yrs. I'm now a dance teacher. well I was up until 3 months ago. i'm PG so I took the year off. I'll go back to teaching in Sept.

My entire life was dance. I danced for 15 years. I studied ballet, jazz, modern and my speciality was tap. I became an assistant teacher at around 13 and then became a head teacher and taught all through my highschool years. It consumed my life and I loved it so much. My sister still teaches there and loves it as well. It will always be a part of my life in someway. There was nothing like it!

I definitely agree with that...I loved the classes I took (notice, past tense  ) I have to get back into it.

I danced for June Claire for about 10 years. I did Jazz dancing and a long time ago - I did tap.
It is no longer a part of my life, but I always wanted to go back to it.

That was me also. Student teacher at 13 then teacher at 18. I only did it for 2 yrs teaching wasn't for me.

I did ballet, tap, lyrical and jazz at Queens Dance Academy/Dancesation from ages 3-13
Then I did some tap and ballet and then pointe at Robert Mann Dance Centre.
Dance was my life and I LOVED IT. Especially ballet/pointe.
