Any good vineyards on the South Fork?
We are going to the Hamptons next week and DH mentioned he would be "willing" to go to a vineyard for me. Most of them are on the North Folk.
Are they any good one on the South Fork?

Re: Any good vineyards on the South Fork?
Duck walk is on the south fork (I believe there are only three - the other two are Channing daughters winery and Wolfer estates)- but if you are going to be out in the hamptons for a few days - you could do a nice day - and take the ferry to shelter island and the north fork - my parents used to do that with me when I was little and we had a good time. There are many more on the north fork - if you do the ferry or drive - try - Paumonauk, Palmer, Pindar, Duck walk (they have one on the north fork too). We love to go out there for the day. If you do go over to the north fork - I used to go to the seafood barge (south hold - port of egypt) with my parents when I was little and DH and I have gone when we do a day or wine tasting - it is on the port so there is a nice view.

Channing Daughters, Wolffer, and Duck Walk (although I'm not a big fan of their wines). There are a lot right outside of Riverhead so it would kinda be on your way out or back if that's an option.

If your DH is like mine and is only willing to go for your sake, I would recommend Wolfer. It's right in Bridgehampton and is one of the nicest wineries anywhere on the East end. Buy a couple of bottles of their Reserve Chardonnay while you're there - it's yummy and cheaper there than at the liquor store

I don't think we will have time to go all the way to the North Fork. But maybe on another trip. Thanks for the tip on the ferry.

I think you understood the situation with DH. DH does not like wine so it would be for me. Chardonnay is a great wine for me. I do want a good wine though
Thanks!

There is a nice terrace off the back of Wolfer winery and you can bring your own snacks to enjoy out there. The Reserve Chardonnay is $18-$20, not too cheap. The Estate is even better at around $30. Don't bother with the La Ferme Martin Chardonnay - that's more of a table wine.

Re: Any good vineyards on the South Fork?
We love Wolfer. They have a beautiful sitting area outside, but they do lots of weddings in September/October. Make sure you call them before you go so it's not closed.

You can definitely do it anytime- when DH and I and friends have done it in the past - we did it as a day trip out there - and drove back out here at night - we didn't stay over so it is definitely doable as a 1 day trip.

I've only been to Duck Walk and I thought the wines were good. I especially liked the blueberry port.
