Any ideas how I can try different tinted moisturizers?
but not at the store. like a sample pack of different brands?
also - do tinted moisturizers have decent coverage, or is it pretty sheer?
I have really dry skin and I'm thinking about trying some different brands for the winter in place of my mineral makeup. but I am not willing to plunk down major bucks before I find the one that works best for me.
I don't want to try them at stores like Ulta or Sephora b/c the lighting in there is not natural. I have often had to return stuff b/c it looks way different in natural lighting than at the store.

im not really sure where to get samples...but keep in mind...you can buy anything at ulta, try it, and return if you dont like it. i do it all the time its the only way i can tell if i like something (if i try it for a few days)

Same with sephora. You can use it for a week or two, and if you don't like it, you can return it.
i use Stila's tinted moisturizer. I love it. But it is pretty sheer... so if you want coverage I wouldn't use it.

I think I am going to try Laura Mercier liquid, since I LOVE her mineral makeup!!

I also have some very dry skin, and the ONLY tinted moisturizer I can wear (without a breakout) is Neutrogena or Physicians Formula.
The neutrogena offers better coverage, but I like the Phys Form better.
I've tried Stila, Studio Gear, MAC, and Estee Lauder and they all give me skin issues.

Re: Any ideas how I can try different tinted moisturizers?
I have gotten foundation samples from Sephora. I didn't ask, the sales person offered. I guess if they think you are seriously considering something the will do it.
They just pour our pump out some from the tester bottle & put it in a small plain container for you.
I would suggest trying it on in the store anyway, to narrow down your choices & then see if you can get samples. But as posted above , you can return at Sephora.

I'm sure if you called Sephora and explained your situation they would be happy to provide you some samples.
Have you ever gone on Makeup Alley? The makeup board on there is very helpful! Good luck!
