Let's try this one a different way....

Does anyone here actually believe that evolution does NOT exist?

Out of curiousity, what do you think about viruses continually mutating and evolving? Or things like antibacterial resistance? Is this not evolution, or is it something else?

I really am just curious about what people who do not believe in evolution think about these sort of things. Or like the fossil records that have a logical succession from old to more recent and show adaptations to different environments...

do you have faith in you and your DH because you just DO? thats what its like. its like you just feel it, so to you its real. and just because you cant touch it or see it, doesnt change your faith in it.Chat Icon

science will always tell us one thing. but our minds and hearts tell us another. so we should all just agree to disagree.

for the record - i believe in evolution. but thats NEVER overpowered my belief in God or my religion.

But why does it always have to be faith vs. science?? Why can't someone believe in god and evolution as you do? Why is it such a stigma to say you are an evolutionist and yet have faith in god?

You're not being curious, you're being judgmental, obviously.

Don't even try to reach out and start a dialogue, it won't work.

Re: Let's try this one a different way....

I can't explain how I feel, really. I do believe in evolution, in my logical mind...but it conflicts with beliefs in my religion.

I would like to believe that God had involvement in the evolution process, if that makes sense. He was the one that brought it into being, that made it all work. Without Him, there would be nothing...just a bunch of rocks floating around in space. I would just like to believe that He is responsible for all life.

Maybe I want to believe all of this because I'm afraid of death. Maybe I want to believe it because I want to think there's some kind of greater plan for me. No matter what the reason, the main thing is just that -- I want to believe. And no matter how rational the theory of evolution is, I want there to be something more to it.

well i think the problem is that no one is making it about faith vs. science except you. you seem as though you're trying to make someone see something by providing scientific proof. did you ever think that maybe people dont WANT to give everything a scientific explanation? there are just people who live on faith and faith alone. and i absolutely love that! i love that there are still people who claim to see Mary in the night sky or Jesus in their potato chips, lol. because that means they still believe or still want to believe. and if you dont have faith, then IMO you dont have anything. because science can change with the blink of an eye. while my faith will never go unwavered.

This is exactly what I am talking about. Why is this so wrong? There is nothing wrong with thinking evolution is logical and still want there to be more to it.

I think this is a good observation. it just shows two completely different ways of looking at the world. I personally cannot wrap my mind around someone who says "well science says this, but I don't care about science" It's like a foreign language to me, and maybe that's why it's difficult to talk about it without people getting heated, because we see the world in such fundamentally different ways.

I always want to say "wait. why? Explain your logic please!"

I disagree. I think that whole thread was about how people taking sides on faith vs. science.

It's definitely hard for me to fathom that people do not want a scientific explanation.

exactly. i'm perfectly happy believing what i believe and i would hope that you are happy believing in what you believe. i dont judge. i dont look down on or question someone elses religion. i know you were just trying to find a reason behind it, but sometimes theres' just no reason. and all you have left is faith.

I can't either, but I think this is the issue. Some people are comfortable throwing science out the window. I can't imagine that, but it's apparently true.
