Any ideas to supplement remote learning?
DD is in first grade, DS is in a special school (getting services) approx pre-k level. We are doing remote classes in NYC so that means the schooling is crap now. My daughter has about 90 minutes total of classes a day, my son about 50 minutes.
He doesn't pay attention, he walks around, etc. Even if we sit next to him and tell him to speak up (when called on) he won't etc. DD is not as bad but she is not totally engaged, etc.
I'm sure a lot of this is due to their age, I think elementary age kids do not do well remote.
We have an option to put them into blended learning but my wife is not comfortable at all with that. But she agrees that they are going to end up way behind their peers in terms of education after this year.
Any ideas on how to supplement their learning? Kumon? private tutors? DD's classmate does a twice weekly group tutoring zoom session at $45 for 30 minutes each time (wow, is that really how much tutoring costs?)
Thanks
