Any input on Home Depot kitchen cabinets?
How is the cost and quality? We wouldn't put the best cabinets in....just something in the middle. Thanks!

Re: Any input on Home Depot kitchen cabinets?
we are looking at them now...but we are doing their higher end stuff by Kraftsmaid or Thomasville...we have a small kitchen...and cabinets will cost at least $10,000 with all the accessories i.e.custom shelving and crown molding. We also are getting the solid wood shelves rather than the particle board shelves. This will increase our cost by 20%.

Re: Any input on Home Depot kitchen cabinets?
Home Depot carries the same brands as most other kitchen stores. I actually found them to be more expensive on the materials and labor than other places. We ended up getting our cabinets from Consumers - the same exact cabinets cost us $11,000 from Consumers, and $14,000 from HD. On the labor, they were over $6,000 more than the contractor we ended up with (and they weren't very thorough in their initial estimating, so i'm sure the price would've gone up)
You can't go wrong with Kraftmaid cabinetry - i definitely recommend getting solid wood shelves as opposed to particle board. The particle board shelving ends up sagging over time from weight.
The cost is all in the details and extras - crown molding, shelving, pull out shelving, extended pull out drawers, soft close doors, pull out garbage trays, etc..

Re: Any input on Home Depot kitchen cabinets?
not only does particle board sag, but if it gets wet (like if your sink leaks) it turns to mush.
you want cabinets that are 3/4" construction on the housing.... solid wood.
I have heard others say the same thing, that HD is a little on the pricy side- shop around, there are some amazing deals out there right now.

We purchased the "Premier" line and had my brothers install them. We're very happy with the cabinets.

Same with us, we found that HD & Lowes were higher price then Consumers Kitchen & Baths. We saved a few thousand.

We got our cabinets from HD... American Woodmark. We installed ourselves so we saved a lot on installation and had a 10% off kitchen cabinets coupon.
They are gorgeous and the price was awesome! Plus, working with the HD designer on the layout was a lot of fun, they have a really cool program that lays everything out for free.

I could have written this post myself...down to the coupon...
They were actually 3K less than Consumers...

Re: Any input on Home Depot kitchen cabinets?
consumers had a better deal on the Kraftmaid cabinets. They also offered free upgrades such as soild wood boxes and dove tail drawers. We got our cabinets from Swan Tile and Bath. They are by Hanseem. There are pics in my album. It cost us $7000 including rollouts, soft close drawers and a glaze. There is a really affordable cabinet place next to it. I believe it's called J&K kitchens (in westbury) or maybe J&L. I know 3 people that used them and got awesome deals. A lot of builders use them also.
