Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
My DS couldnt care less and totally isnt ready to be trained. He is showing none of the "ready signs". I belong to a mothers group and all of the kids are within a month or two of each other age wise. ALL the other moms of boys are already potty training and their kids are "ready". Am I behind on this???

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to porty training?
nope... my nephew didn't get out of diapers till he was 3. When your DS is ready then try then. You can try to start getting him used to the potty, but you can't force it.
My best friend's daughter was very late. She was over 4 and still in diapers. She started pre-school and the teacher called her to say that some of the other kids were making fun of Alexis b/c she's still in diapers. My friend felt bad for her daughter, but the next day she wanted nothing to do with diapers and was trained in a day or so. Even though she was made fun of it was the best thing b/c now she's out of diapers. Not to say that will happen with your DS, but he'll let you know when he's ready.

I have a girl, but she turned 2 years old 2 months ago and still has no interest in potty training. She went pee on the potty the other day but that was the first and only time.

Please, my DS that turned 3 in May is not even potty trained. He had his moments but then back to diapers he went. So frustrating.

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to porty training?
I don't think so....DS#1 was not potty trained until he was closer to 3 yrs old. We kept trying but he wanted nothing to do with it.
DS#2 is 28 months and has been potty trained for 3 months now. He totally did it himself. I wasn't even thinking about it after DS#1, but he just kept telling us when he needed to go to the bathroom and one day refused to wear a diaper. I really think it's bc he saw his older brother going to the bathroom and wanted to do what he does. He still wears a pull up at night though.

Thomas has been going on the potty since 16 months, but still not consistently. He goes on the potty all the time but rarely tells us and is usually already wet when we take him to the potty. He's starting to tell us, but still not consistently. He's 27 months.

My little Tah-ta-lah will be walking down the aisle in a diaper.
That's right... just a warning to all of my potential DIL.
Well, I guess I don't have to worry about him staying out all night on prom night... especially if someone slips him some prunes
Sorry TMI but he'll squat right in front of you. When you ask him, "Do you have to poop?" he looks right at you and say, "No, not YET" "Want to sit on the potty?" " "Noooooooooooooo... I don't want to sit on the potty."
At least it keeps the girls away

My boys didn't train until right around three (one right before and one right after). Totally normal!

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
Christopher is almost 2.5 and he isn't trained, and really doesn't care either.
I did buy Easy Ups yesterday (had a coupon) and I guess he feels more b/c he has told me that he is peeing now, so hopefully that is a "step" in the right direction

DS wants no part of it. Like someone else said, you can see he is making the poop face and ask him do you want to go on the potty. Do you have to poop. His response is always no, no poopy mommy. He is not ready.

Absolutely no interest! Put him on the potty.. he stands up instantly and run away. I think that means he is not ready.
He does love peeing standing up in the bathtub though.

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
DS is almost 21 months, so he is under 2, but not much of a sign. He is more interested in the toilet and likes to watch Daddy go, but that's about it.
We bought him a potty, but he just pushes it around the room. I'm not sure he gets what it is for really. Not going to rush it, we'll let him play with his potty and see when he seems ready to try it out.

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
My youngest son is 2.5 and I am not trying. My older son started showing interest around his 3rd birthday and then a month later he was trained. I kept a pull up on him at night for the first month and then he told me mommy I dont need a diaper I am a big boy, he actually gets out of his crib and just goes to the potty, then back to bed. He will be 4 in a few months.

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
nope DS is also 2 years 2 months and while he shows interest (tells us when he goes, wants to flush toilet and wash hands etc) the minute we put him on the toilet he FREAKS. But I am not pushing it, I figure he will do it when he's ready. and yes, I went to a play date 2 weeks ago and one of the moms there had a son the exact same age and she brought his potty. I am all for training your DC, but it was in the middle of the lawn while all the kids are playing around it so yes I was a little surprised. She would just have him pull down his pants and sit on it when he was ready. Not sure how I feel about that

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
we are progressing really slowly, DS thinks peeing is fun so he pees everywhere lol he will pee on a potty and on a toilet if you put him there, he will call from time to time if he remembers... but pooping is another story, he just runs away and hides and freaks if I try to put him on a potty while he is pooping...

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
I don't think so at all - none of the people who have 2 years that I know are potty trained yet - most I know potty trained between 2.5 and 3.
I don't think DD is ready either. She plays potty with her dolls - putting them on her potty seat and saying they went poo poo or pee pee, etc. She regularly changes the diapers on her baby dolls etc. BUT when it comes to her - she would stay in a dirty diaper all day if we allowed it. She fights us tooth and nail to change her. So I'm holding off - it is there and I ask her everyday if she wants to try, I'm leaving the potty out. When she shows more signs that she is ready I will take it from there. My mom says she will be stubborn though. I PT in one day - I refused to do it before my mom took me for a day to preschool to check it out for 3 year olds (I was about 2 3/4 years old) and she said sorry but you can't go unless you are out of diapers. I guess I must have really wanted to go - b/c I never wore another diaper.
I look at it that they won't go to college in diapers so I will take it at her speed.

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
DS has been showing signs for at least 6 months, but we aren't near potty training.
We bought a little seat for him on the big potty. He loved to sit on it a few months ago (but didn't do anything but sit). Now he doesn't want to sit. Whatever. I still wouldn't say that sitting on a new seat is potty training.

We just potty trained my son last month and he turned 3 in June. It happened really fast too, I guess when they are ready, it will happen.

Re: Any moms of 2 year old boys - not even close to potty training?
My DS just turned two and I've been sort of slacking on this He's been showing all the signs he was ready for a while now but, I felt he was too young. We got him a potty about a month ago and I thought it would be a breeze but, right away it became a HUGE pain so I gave up He would constantly say he had to go to the potty even when he didn't - and then would just sit there forever and if I told him it was enough he would yell that he had to go pee pee - he was clearly making it up- he liked the attention he got when he did go and thought it was fun to sit on elmo and press the button to make him talk and read his books.
I'm going to try for real in a few weeks once the summer is over and we are done with vacations and our schedule normalizes...
So - point is, you are not alone in this
