any moms who are organizers of Meetup.com groups??
I belong to 2 of them in my area (lower bucks) and one organizer asked for $12 yearly dues. I just paid $5 last year when i joined. ITs not the money. I had no idea Meetup charges the organizer as the other group I belong to has no yearly dues.
If anyone here is an organizer can you FM me the cost? The organizer of said group kicked me out b/c I suggested moving it to a yahoo group for free..LOL.
thanks!

Last time I was on meetup, I remember it being around $19/month?
How many members are in this group?
Does the cost include events? or do you have to pay for those as well?

Re: any moms who are organizers of Meetup.com groups??
I was an assistant org. I believe the meetup fees are $12 per month...? Some groups charge more and have holiday or yearly parties with the money. Some charge more and the org makes a profit. This was an issue in one of old groups. The org kept some money for herself and people were outraged, but if you calculated how much she made per hour (and she worked hard) it was like $1/hour.

Re: any moms who are organizers of Meetup.com groups??
they were asking for $12; there are 40 members (i have no idea how many are actually active though). the organizer said her card would be charged $144 for the year and people were balking at the $12.00. Honestly, I dont care. I would have paid. they said the left over money would be put towards organizing events, etc. I had no issue with it.
I suggested moving it to yahoo groups if $$ was a problem for most of the members b/c you can make it private, have an admin/organizer, message boards, etc. and then i got an email that i was kicked out of the group.
the organizer said it was because my posts made it seem like " I was unhappy with the group."
I was just curious if there is financial incentive for the organizers to stay on meetup when you can do it on Yahoo for free.

I was for a few years. When I was doing it I chose to pay every 6 months (it was the cheapest option) and I paid about $75 ever 6 months.
