Re: Any NYC teachers taking a RO day next Thursday for Holy Thurs.?
Can we also take one for the Monday after Easter?
I'm considering doing this.
I have a question though, why does it not come out of our c.a.r.?

Because legally they can not take days out of C.A.R. for religious observances. This is for people whose holidays are not days that the schools are already closed.
ETA: Easter Monday is not a holy day, so I don't they'll approve it.
Granted the Holy Thursday service is not until the evening, but the DOE doesn't have to know that!

this is how it was explained to me...Let's say you make $300 for the day...you will be docked $150...basically YOU have to pay for the sub they get for your class

Re: Any NYC teachers taking a RO day next Thursday for Holy Thurs.?
i always take my ro days i believe it is a percentage of your pay for the day but i am not sure the exact percentage it does not come from your car because you are entitled to your religious days eta no they will not give you monday it is not a holiday eta after what someone else said i checked the uft website and it says we are entitled to monday and if we are denied we should file a grievance, also even if you are not that religious they don't know that, unless money is the issue which i understand you should try to take your ro days you are entitled to them

I think this is such a messed up rule that they enforce.

Re: Any NYC teachers taking a RO day next Thursday for Holy Thurs.?
I am taking both Holy Thursday and Easter Monday. Mayor Bloomberg approved Easter Monday as an RO day after Randi tried to get the two days as official days off and he vetoed her. I also take All Saint's and All Soul's Day and the Immaculate Conception.
In my school, we have to put our forms in at least two weeks in advance. I put mine through in early March. Make sure it is not too late!

But depending on how much you contribute to your TDA, that number goes down. For me, taking All Saint's and All SOuls' day came out to about 100 bucks total. SO wroth it, IMO.
