Any one ever buy for sale by owner?
With no agents at all involved?
How did the negotiations, etc, go? Who did you deal with?
Any advice?

Re: Any one ever buy for sale by owner?
I sold my first home on my own w/ just the help of my friend who did real estate on the side (but wasn't our agent or involved in that way). We had an open house & had 2 offers made...when we accepted one, I believe either my friend drew up a basic accepted offer letter & then we dealt directly w/ their attorney & they dealt w/ ours. It truly was a simple process (but the people that bought it were very nice & our attorney was great too).
Now that I'm thinking about it, we bought that house from the owner...that was a bit tougher b/c he was an attorney & a bit of a shyster. He tried to give us the runaround & take things back that he originally agreed to. At one point he said we were in a bidding war (this was 1997) & the market was different, but we said listen, this is our final offer take it or leave it....he took it.

I did. It went smooth. No problems at all. It was acutally easier dealing directly with the owners at the time. I was so fed up with going through realtors and looking at MLSI that one day I had a hunch to go on Cragislist..just to check it out. Well, there it was! MY home! It was like it was meant to be.
