Any other Mommies feeling overwhelmed...but only at night?

Daytime is an adventure. I absolutely love taking care of my DD and while I'm tired and still not feeling well, I just love it. Come late afternoon/evening, I feel like I want to cry into my pillow. NO IDEA why this is happening. I start to think about a million things and start worrying and just feel overly sensitive.

Please tell me I'm not completely crazy and that someone else can relate? Chat Icon

You're not crazy at all. EVERYTHING is a little bit scary at night.

I remember with DD feeling the panic slowly rising in the pit of my stomach as the sun set with all the worries setting in about what the night might bring. And as the light outside changed to dawn, I would feel this INCREDIBLE sense of relief.....

You just said it- you are tired, you don't feel like yourself, you have this incredible responsibility now and this tiny helpless being that NEEDS you to know exactly what to do (even though you really don't have a clue).

As the days go by, you'll see- it DOES get easier.

I felt EXACTLY the same way for the first couple of months after DD was born. I used to dread the sun going down since the panic and fear I would feel was overwhleming. It gradually went away and now I relish nighttime just to get a break from everything.

hang in there- it does get betterChat Icon

yes yes yes and my DH (bless him) has been great with changing her and waking up at night with her and letting me sleep - i still get up at least once with her and feel guilty i'm not doing more. yet i'm still exhausted during the day and drained and blah and overwhelmed at times. i'm also terrified of when he has to go back to work and being alone with her Chat Icon Chat Icon

dana, totally feeling the same way over here. i am naturally more of a morning person, so even with little sleep i wake up ready to go. as the day wears on, though, the fatigue sets in and i feel very overwhelmed and want to cry. what has helped me is dh taking the early evening shift, allowing me to get some sleep before nighttime... i would try to get some rest if you can, even just lying down, at the time when you're most tired.

I feel the SAME WAY. It seems like DS is more cranky at night than ever - it is dark, DH is fast asleep and so is the rest of the world and you are alone with a baby screaming bloody murder and no idea how to make it stop. Being totally exhausted doesn't help. I DREAD my night shift (DH and I take shifts thank god). I must say though as the weeks go by it is getting better every day Hang in there you are not alone! Re: Any other Mommies feeling overwhelmed...but only at night?

Every night for a month, I would cry at 6pm... I was like a clock!!!

Here's what helped... I would ask people to stop by for a quick visit around 5ish... I would ask them to bring something for dinner. (obviously only close friends and or family) and then we would eat, and I would take a nap after dinner and let DH take over for a while so I could take a shower and rest.....

It worked well for us. Chat Icon
