Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
On my other thread a couple of people mentioned that you can paint over paneling. Anyone have pictures? I would love a quick fix like that until I can afford to gut out the rooms fully. TIA

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
I plan to paint over the paneling in my enclosed front porch. I have seen it and when you prime it and then paint it comes out pretty nice.

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
I did it in my office. It came out OK. Considering we were/are doing so many other things, ripping down paneling and replacing with sheetrock in the office is not my number one priority.
We spackeled all of the lines in the sheetrock, sanded, primed 2x and painted 2x. The only places you can tell is where one sheet of paneling met another sheet of paneling... there is a larger gap, sometimes a bump, a crack. If we spent more time re-spackling and sanding we probably could have gotten it nicer, but we were/are just so caught up with 'more important' rooms in the house.
As I said, temporarily and for the office I dont mind..
If I remember I'll take pictures tonight for you.

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
This is from my den. It was really dark wood and we used oil based tinted primer and then painted 2 coats. No problems and it's been about 2 years now.

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
Our painter did that room. After we saw what he did we did our guest room. But I didn't want to take a picture b/c my ILs are storing a bunch of crap in there and it looks like garbage right now. Plus it was only 2 of the 4 walls paneled. I'll go take a picture and post.
OK, here it is. I got a pic of one smooth wall and one panelled
Oh, I forgot to add, the people at Janovic are really good at helping you with projects like this. Much better than HD or Lowes IMO. They recommended a special roller cover (I forget what it was exactly but I want to say it was a thick nap) that helped the paint go on the paneling well. But we had to do touchup in the grooves with a paintbrush.

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
You can't really see the grooves, but these are both painted paneling. Hope it helps anyway.

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
Mrs Professor, what color green is that on the paneling? I like it and would to know the name and brand if you don't mind.

Re: Any Pictures of Painted Paneling?
THANK YOU! I love all the pictures and it makes me think I can do that too and be able to deal with and actually enjoy the paneling as long as its a brighter color.
