Re: Any recent Huntington Hosp. Deliveries?

I delivered in Jan. 2007. Not sure if they changed anything.
When I was there DH would be there at 8AM and would go back and forth until 10PM.

Nursery was open 7PM-8PM, However, your visitors can start seeing you at 6:30PM. The nurses (or you) would bring the babies back to the nursery I believe by 6PM to prepare for visiting hours.

Immediate family I *think* was all day long.

8PM Everyone but DH gets "Kicked out" and the guard does go room to room and ask people to leave.
Reason being, they cannot bring your baby back to you until the maternity ward is clear of visitors.

I hope this helps a bit.

i am almost positive that it is only immediate family all day long like spouses, grandparents and siblings only....but my sister was there with me and no one said anything and her friend even came along during the day. for the most part i don't think they say anything as long as it isn't a huge noisy group of people coming in all day.
i delivered in 6/07 don't know if its changed or not though

Re: Any recent Huntington Hosp. Deliveries?

this is what i got from the website:

Extended Visiting Policy-Fathers/Significant Others
. Will not be considered as one of the two visitors permitted during general visiting hours
. Must understand that nursing procedures may, at times, interrupt the visit
. May also be asked to leave the room if, at any time, his/her presence interferes with the privacy of the other patient in the room
. Must be free of any infections (colds, fever sores, etc.)
. Sleeping accommodations for fathers are unavailable

At the discretion of the nurse in charge, all visitation may be limited. We ask for your cooperation on these rare, emergent situations.

Infant Sibling/Grandparent Visitation Guidelines

As part of our family-centered care philosophy, we encourage visitation of the newborn by its siblings and grandparents. Below are the guidelines for sibling visitation. Please read and comply with these guidelines to ensure the health and safety of your newborn.

*

NO child or any visitor with a fever or symptoms of a communicable illness, including upper respiratory infection, diarrhea, or any skin rash or lesions will be permitted to visit.
*

NO child or any visitor who has been recently exposed to a known communicable disease (e.g. chicken pox) or any other viral illness will be permitted to visit.
*

The visiting sibling will visit only his or her sibling. Throughout the visit, sibling activity will be supervised by the parents/grandparents and limited to mother's room. Siblings will not be permitted to enter the Nursery. It is suggested that sibling visits be limited to one hour in length.
*

Parents, siblings, and grandparents MUST WASH THEIR HANDS prior to handling the newborn. Since most infections are transmitted by hand contact, good hand washing is essential!
*

Children under 12 years, who are not siblings, will not be allowed to visit the Maternity Unit. (Siblings are the brothers and sisters.)

General Visiting

To promote the needed rest after childbirth, to provide time for educational opportunities, and to ensure safety and security, general visiting is limited to 6:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. each day for all other family members and friends. In preparation for general visiting hours, your infant will be picked up from your room and brought back to the nursery at approximately 6:15 p.m. Infant viewing outside the nursery for general visiting takes place from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

INFANT SIBLING/GRANDPARENT VISITATION:
12 NOON TO 5 PM

GENERAL VISITING:
6:30 PM TO 8:00 PM

Re: Any recent Huntington Hosp. Deliveries?

also wanted to add: my dd came with my husband and stayed till after 8pm and came before 12 noon. i had a private room so not sure about shared rooms. also sil came and stayed after 8pm too. i think that they want to limit # of people so it doesnt turn into a party. they do take the babies back during the general visiting hours. the one in plainview lets you have the baby in the room. hth

Re: Any recent Huntington Hosp. Deliveries?

i delivered there twice. once in jan 03, and again in oct. 07. both times the immeadiate family pretty much came and went and pleased. as long as you're quiet and aren't bothering anyone ,they don't get too upset. (and the first time my son was in special care, so he was neve in my room at all) second time, they would take the baby back, for viewing hour. which i think was 7-8 at night. hoestly i only had immeadiate family visiting the second time around, so it was never much of an issue.

good hospital though. when i delievered my ddaughter, we had certain procedures we needed them to follow because of my son. well they never questions doing anything that was asked (even though none of it was standard) and most of the doctor's and nurses there, remembered jason. which made my life much easier.
