Huntington Hosp Moms
When I was there today to check on the baby, I was examined in one of the birthing rooms. It was so nice! Felt like a hotel room, and totally private.
So here is my confusion - I could swear I read that sometimes you have to share a room at Hunt Hosp? But today the nurse told me it's one patient per room. Do you get moved from the pretty hotel room to a more hospital-y room?

It depends on if you get one of those rooms or not..
When I had the twins those rooms werent an option for me..I had to have them in a traditional Delivery room...which is common procedure when delivering twins..just incase they have to deliver the second twin by emergency c section.

i think you are in the birthing room for the labor and delivery part and then given a different room to recover in for the rest of your stay. They do have options for private rooms, but you have to pay extra for those and i think you have to book it earlier because they only have so many.

The maternity ward has shared rooms unless you pay for a private (I was willing to, but there wasnt one available). The L&D suites are private you Labor, Deliver and Recover there, then get transferred to the maternity ward.

Re: Huntington Hosp Moms
I spent the night in an L&D delivery suite when I was induced. I wound up having a c-section...when it was over, they put me in a regular recovery room, I was there from wednesday afternoon and we left on sunday afternoon. It must have been a slow week...I didnt have any roommates and on the last day, it had gotten really warm and I noticed some ants by the window on the floor so they put me in a private room and no charge for the last night.

Your labor is private. The room you have after you're done is shared unless you get a private room or in my case the last time, you're luck enough to give birth when it's slow.

yes l & d seperate like a hotel, rooms after birth not so hotel like. you ahve to share a bathroom and not too much privacy. we opted for the private room. it wasnt that expensive it was equivalent to a stay at a nice hotel so i thought i was worth it. plus you have your own bathroom. 1st night i was in a regular room and then they moved me to a private room the next day. i brought my ipod and speakers for delivery and the doctor commented on the music that is was relaxing. we played jazz while i was in labor.
