Any recommendations for interactive stuff to do with 2 15 month olds?
Or around there? Are they old enough for puzzles? I am a little worried about the wooden ones because they still like to bang and throw everything around and sometimes hit each other with stuff. I have some picture books but they are getting old-anyone have suggestions for that? Just looking for some new stuff to sit and do with them. TIA!

Let me know what you find out! I feel like all they do all day is throw their toys around. They have started to really like putting smaller objects into bigger objects, but other than that they can't seem to do anything organized.

I want to try coloring with DD, but the past few times we tried, she didn't really "get it" yet

DS also still loves to throw and bang his toys - a favorite game is throwing things at the cats
He has recently been interested in the wooden puzzles with the big knobs. This one is a favorite
He still throws them sometimes, but is actually doing the puzzle more and more. I think he gets a kick out of me cheering for him
We also color sometimes, I tape paper down to a table or his high chair tray and give him a crayon or finger paint. Sometimes he throws the crayons, sometimes he tries to eat them. The finger paints were very successful - he didn't try to eat that! I have heard of people using pudding as paint if you are concerned about them putting it in their mouths.
Other favorites for DS - drums, chimes and xylophone - he likes to makes noise
This AM I gave him an empty sippy cup, showed him how to unscrew the top and he sat there for about 10 minutes trying to do it himself.
He also love the LIttle Tikes basketball hoop

I gave them crayons at a restaurant and they were like WTH are these and throwing them...I think they would get it if I tried some more...I was thinking about getting that color wonder brush but they are also obsessed with splashing water so not sure how that would work

Thanks so much. I actually have a basketball hoop that I put away because they didn't seem to like that. The M&D puzzle, is that heavy? MY SIL always gives them household stuff to play with.

Re: Any recommendations for interactive stuff to do with 2 15 month olds?
It isn't super heavy, I think it's about 1/2" plywood. If they were to hit the other in the head with enough force it would probably hurt though.
Household things are great! DS can stay entertained with a metal bowl and wooden spoon for a long time.
I have had that bball hoop since he was about 6 months and he has only shown an interest in it in the past two months, maybe pull it back out.

At 15 mos or so, DS loved Melissa & Doug Maze Puzzles
Big Knob Puzzles
Big Cardboard Block Sets (you build them, they knock em down!)
Put on some music and use ... Melissa & Doug Band in a Box
or Parents Bee Bop Band
I first introduced fingerpainting at that age - here are 3 different recipes for edible finger painting activities
Pudding Finger Paint What you need: • Instant Vanilla Pudding • Food Coloring What to do: Mix pudding according to directions. Add food coloring for desired color. Finger paint on paper plates. Completely Edible!
Kool-Aid Finger Paint What you need: • 2 cups flour • 2 packs unsweetened Kool-Aid • 1/2 cup salt 3 cups boiling water • 3T. oil What to do: Mix wet into dry.
Jello Finger Paint What you need: • Any kind of flavored jello • Boiling water What to do: Mix jello into boiling water until it is a goo consistency for fingerpaint. Use normal fingerpainting material or glossy paper. Kids love the smell and feel of it.

She loooves mega bloks, and is just learning to put more than one on top of each other!

Re: Any recommendations for interactive stuff to do with 2 15 month olds?
At 15 months their receptive language should be pretty good.
You can sit on the floor and lay out a few toys and say "Hand me the ball", "Where is the duck?", "Can you find the ____" .. etc .....
Intereactive songs work really good at this age too ---- Wheels on the bus, itsy bitsy spider, rock a bear - if you buy a children's CD, they usually have lot of songs.
Buy a tunnel and have the boys take turns crawling through to the other side.
Finger Puppets (ex. animal puppets). Put them behind your back and pull on out at a time and sing "Where is Piggie, Where is Piggie ... Here I am, Here I am, How are you today sir, Very well I thank you, Run away, run away) and soo on.
I'll think of more and post as I think of them ....

DS loves this game. We have this set of nesting blocks with animals, I'll lay out 3 nad ask where is the cat and have him grab the correct block (well correct if I ask for the cat, pig or cow. We are still working on the others )

Re: Any recommendations for interactive stuff to do with 2 15 month olds?
what about making 'instruments' for them? DD (who is 16.5 mos) and I made noise makers by putting different things in empty puffs containers and then I sealed them shut with tape. I used macaroni, cheerios, puffed rice, ground coffee, etc. They all make different noises when you shake them and she LOVES them. We also made drums (thanks to my DH ) by putting mixing bowls upside down on the carpet and using mixing spoons as the drumsticks. It's a little loud, but def entertaining.

Yes, whoever said megablocks!
As for toys, DS liked the handle haulers (little tikes), his shopping cart (and equally strollers on playdates ), the fisher price Laugh & Learn Home (someone posted that already I think), big puppets & stuffed animals, little people animal farm, little people figures, etc....

Who can ever forget puppps?! Not fun!
Flash cards are great too ... I started with animal sounds, which are easier to say than words. Show a pic of a cow, "what does the cow say?" "moooooooo". He had all his sounds down before he actually said the name of the animal.
