any restaurants/villages extra nice this time of year ??
looking for a place to eat, in the huntington village area or within 5-8 miles.
basically a good midpoint from suffolk to queens.
anywhere that its nicely decorated or anything to see at nite, so we can eat and see something nice afterwards. even if its a nicely decorated village.
ETA: Any cuisine EXCEPT Italian

I LOVE PORT JEFF we were going to go this past weekend and never went (7 kids ages 8 and under, we decided to stay in )
Is it really nice at nite? I might be able to do some convincing and we're going on a weeknite so it might not be as crowded.
thanks!

yeah, that @#$@#$ dickens festival to us townies it means no parking for 3 days I will say that they totally 'tart-up' the town for that fest... and we DO appreciate that.. Becuase of the festival, there are lots of lights and decorations all over town. (we even did our part and decorated our windows) Weeknights it's fine.... we have no problem parking when we return from work (roughly 7-8pm)...

I love Sayville. It is South Shore - but it is adorable.
21 Main is a wonderful (albeit expensive) restaurant. For a romantic night they also have Cafe Joelle. Taste is one of the newest restaurants in town and they have good food and delicious fondue. If you want to bring the kids you can try Crickets for American cuisine or Agean Cafe for Greek.
After dinner and a stroll on Main you can drive down to Camp Edy to see the light show.

The Country House in Historic Stony Brook Village is always decorated so nice for Christmas (the food is also great). The village has an old fashioned horse and buggy going around as well. It's a great town to walk around.

Huntington is very festive, they have Christmas music playing in speakers up on top of the buildings. If you want somewhere cozy I would say Red, Besito, Jonathan's, Pomodorino, Piccolos. Canterbury's is a pub, gets very college-age around this time of the year.

What about the Milleridge Inn? It's got that little village behind the restaurant that is always decorated for the holidays.
