Any SIRM-NY patients?
So after 4 consecutive BFN's at Cornell, I'm switching to SIRM-NY (Dr. Wang). Haven't started cycling there yet but plan to later this month.
Can anyone tell me what to expect? Wait times for monitoring? Cornell monitoring sometimes took me over an hour wait in the mornings. Ugh!

Re: Any SIRM-NY patients?
LOVE LOVE LOVE that office!! (I saw Dr.T though, highly recommend..)
I never waited for any of my appts., they always took me on time or on the rare occasion I would wait 5-10mins. I was always relying on the LIRR schedule so sometimes I'd arrive a half hour early and they would take me in early too. The only sorta downside is you don't have an exact appt time. You tell them if you prefer mornings or afternoons and then they call you the day before to give you your time. For me personally, this worked out fine - but I could see how some people with a schedule would find it a little frustrating. They work it around when the doctors have ERs and ETs because they are present for all the monitoring appts.
I was always VERY happy there and it's the office that got me pregnant with my (due in August). Their office is run like a well oiled machine ..... everyone is very organized, accessible, friendly, knowledgable, I can't recommend that entire place highly enough! (can't speak for Dr. Wang though, as I was a Dr.T girl)
Good luck!!

I prefer to have an appointment time rather than the first come-first serve option. My office is actually a 10 minute walk from the SIRM offices so getting there is pretty easy for me!
I wanted to consult with Dr. T but the wait time for him was 3+ months and since I'm almost 37 years old, every month counts! So I went with Dr. Wang instead. I really liked him.
Congrats on your pregnancy!!

We have a consult with Dr. T at SIRM for the end of August. I've heard great things and I actually used Dr. T for my IVF back when he was working for Columbia. Did you guys have such a long wait for a consult? I feel like 3 months is so far away.

I called for a consult initially in Sept 2011 and waited about 10wks for a consult. I didn't cycle there and instead did surrogacy for about a year. When that didn't work out, I decided to call their office again but they said I needed to get another consult (September 2012) and that the next one was in 3 months or something. I pleaded my case over the phone and as luck would have it there was a cancellation and I got in 2 days later.

Wow Pennycat - so lucky!
Are the ET and ER done in their offices? At Cornell, both were done in the operating room at the hospital. Does SIRM have orientation (new patient classes)? Are all new patients required to take the class? This will be my 7th cycle :( but first at SIRM and don't think I need any IVF classes.

Yup it's all done right there! So convenient! I never heard of any kind of orientation, etc. I just went for my consult and arranged to start my cycle. By the time I went to SIRM I was already a seasoned IF'er but my first cycle there was the one that worked.

i totally agree with everything pennycat says here! i had a great experience at SIRM and found them to be extremely organized and the office is VERY well run. you don't wait for appointments, the staff is incredibly nice and every step of your treatment is carefully planed out for you. i am currently almost 32 weeks pregnant from an FET with Dr. Wang. he is compassionate and accessible to his patients and very easy to talk to. i wish you the best of luck!!

KeepingSecrets - Congrats. I am so happy to hear that you are expecting a little one in a few weeks
OP - PennyCat has said it all!! SIRM is an amazing place. I have 8 week old b/g twins thanks to Dr. T. ( and Dr. Wang). I had 4 unsuccessful cycles prior to going to SIRM. Got my babies first cycle there.
Good Luck!!
