Any state employees on here that can help me with my Maternity paper work.
So I talked to HR and the OB office and they both told me different things. When I talked to HR they told me to have the doctor fill out the paper work stating my due date and how long I will be out (6 or 8 Weeks). They also told me to get the doctor to sign off on how many days I will be taking before my due date. When I called the OB office, they said they can only give me medical leave after the baby is born. THe doctor can't tell my work I will be out 2-3 Weeks before due date if I have no medical reason for it.
I know people go out 2-3 Weeks before the due date. I plan to use my sick time, which I have. It seemed HR said it was fine to go out before. I'm now confused on who I tell and how I get it approved. I will call HR back tomorrow and also ask my supervisor, but I was just wondering if anyone knows anything here. This paper work is a pain in the butt!!

i work for the state.. when i went out the last time i had to use all my sick and vacation time first.. you will not be disabled and collecting half pay until you run out of time.. after that it will last you 6-8 weeks depending on what your dr puts you out for.. i just told my supervisor i was going out. a week before i delivered.

Yeah, I'm using all my sick and vacation as well. As I was told I would get 6 Weeks (vaginal) 8 Weeks (C-section). Then from there I can opt for additional time called "Child Rearing time" That can be as long as 7 months with out pay.
HR did tell me something about writing a letter to my supervisor stating when I was going out exactly. Maybe I just have to tell her. I will ask tomorrow. I'm getting a headache from all the paper work.
