Lightly crack it on something and then roll.

I just roll in on the counter and then peel the shell off - make sure you get the albumin (that little skin-like part that's under the shell...) because if you have that, it will all just peel off easily!

I think I remember hearing something about putting vinegar in the water. I make hard boiled eggs every 5 years or so. Chat Icon

i also heard to put some vinegar in the water. i take mine out from the stove, dump the boiling water, and then run them under cold water for a few minutes. Crack them and peel and the peel comes right off for me. Maybe its because i do put the vinegar?

I heard it was hard to peel newer eggs. I use the older dozen, that have not expired for hard boiled eggs and I put salt in the water. Going to try vinegar next time

Boil eggs in rapidly boiling water for 16 minutes
When done, place in a new bowl filled with ice water. Let sit for 1 minute.
Gently tap egg on side. Then roll/squish egg and the peel will just completely break apart and you will have beautiful eggs.

I do the same, except I boil jumbo eggs for only 14 min... and after removing the shells, I run the eggs under wate for a moment to make sure no shell bits remain. they come out perfectly every time... no rings around the yolks, and no shells getting stuck....
