Anybody have a crib tent to keep the cats out of the crib?
DH and I have two cats who are very much like our babies. They rule the house and are used to having access to everything. If we close a door and someone is in the room, they scratch and meow until we open it.
Does anyone have a crib tent to keep the cats out of the crib? If so, does it work? Do the cats still try to walk the railing of the crib (mine probably will ) Did you keep it on for a long time or just until baby could roll over?
Would love advice on this one. I don't want the cats to resent the baby but I also don't want them to cuddle up and sleep with it either (and they would)

Re: Anybody have a crib tent to keep the cats out of the crib?
No..Beemer also rules the house and has full access but after the first day I set the crib up so never cared about it again. I thought the same thing before I had Molly. But Beemer has A LOT of issues when I brought Molly home from the hospital. She was jealous and also the new crying in the house was very stressful for her. I brought her to 3 vets and got no help at all. Then I found a great vet who put Beemer on a medication liike a paxil for cat..and she was back to her old self again. Now she and Molly are sorta friends...but for the first 1 beemer really did not want anything to do with the baby. She would smell the new stuff and smelled the baby a bit but then just went her own way.
Oh, Beemer sleeps with us everynight and has since we got her from the shelter so she is a cuddle type cat. Just not with Molly.

Re: Anybody have a crib tent to keep the cats out of the crib?
So you think maybe they WON'T be curious? Gee, if I could only be so lucky. I love them and want them to love the baby (on their terms, of course) but I just don't want to see them all sleeping together. Right now they sleep with us, but I am not sure if they will continue if baby sleeps in our room in the beginning.
Maybe I should get two Moses baskets and put them on either side of the crib and then they will sleep in them. They love sleeping in baskets and such.

My one cat was curious, but never harmed Lauren. He would jump in there to sinff around and get out. No harm. Never got one.

I registered for it but never got it. I didn't buy it on my own either bc my cat just wasn't at all interested in the crib - and still isn't.

Hmm, I wonder if I should hold off and see what happens after we get and set up the crib. Maybe we won't need it

Re: Anybody have a crib tent to keep the cats out of the crib?
set the crib up without any matress or sheets for a few days..it is not a comfty place that way then I put the matress in and Beemer jumped in once or twice and came right out.
Beemer never stopped sleeping with us. She was not going to let Molly kick her out of her cozy bed.
I would hold off and not worry about it just yet. Cats don't really love little babies...they like to be the baby instead.

Ahh, so true. I think I will have a bigger problem with jealousy than with them in the crib. Thankfuly they have each other to play with.

Re: Anybody have a crib tent to keep the cats out of the crib?
our cat has never tried to get in the crib. Ella hasn't slept in it yet, but he hasn't gone in the bassinet either. He'll sit on our bed and look in if she's in there, but thats it.
He's been more needy for attention since she came home, but he's otherwise normal and has accepted her.
He's started treating her the same way he treats us (from jumping over her on the couch to licking her feet )
On the other hand, my parents cat HATES Ella. She hates to be in the same room with her, and has hissed at her a number of times. (I work out of a home office at their house, so Ella's there daily). Zoe has not yet accepted her, but she's getting better.

So true for us too. Joey (our cat) really has little to no interest in DD. Sometimes I call him over and just let him smell her - she loves watching him but is only 4 mos so she's not crawling after him yet), I let him smell her bc I want him to be used to her - for when she is mobile.
When we first set up her room he loved to go in there and sleep under the crib. But now, he's really not interested at all and will sometimes follow me in there and then come back out with me.
One other option we were considering if he WAS trying to get in the crib was installing a screen door on her room. Sounds weird but it would have only been temporary and they are cheap - like $15 at Lowes. I was worried about the "what ifs" and what if the screen tent fell on DD while she was in the crib. So we were going to put the screen door on her room because I didnt want to have to close her door every time she was in the crib.
Like I said, Joey had/has no interest in the crib or the baby LOL so it was never an issue but its another idea if you are worried.

The idea that he looks in on her in the bassinet is adorable.
And licking her feet sounds hilarious!

I heard about the screendoor. We considered it but I think the cats would climb up the screen
Maybe they will leave baby alone.
I am seriously thinking matching Moses baskets may be my best bet with them
