Re: Anybody have a HIDA scan- aka cholescintigraphy
I haven't, but I do have something very similar done for my kidneys. I have a radioactive dye injected by IV, then I lay on a table with a huge camera thingy over my body while the dye runs its course. Then they inject lasix through the IV to flush it all through my system, through my kidneys and out my bladder. It takes upwards of two hours and its completely painless and totally boring (I have to lay completely still).
Good Luck!

Re: Anybody have a HIDA scan- aka cholescintigraphy
I had this about 3 years ago, before I got my gallbladder out.
I don't remember it taking very long. They told me that if your gall bladder isn't functioning well that you may get sick to your stomach when the dye is injected.
I got really quesy, but didn't throw up. I got my gall bladder out soon after.
If this is the test that you were talking about in "Parenting", my DD was 9 months at the time, and nobody said anything about me being radioactive and not to handle her. OOOPPPSS!

It is the same test I am talking about on Parenting. Interesting that nothing was said to you either.
That is good to know about the nausea. I also find it interesting that you don't remember it taking long. Maybe they found your blockage quickly. Whatever I've read said that if there is a blockage, it will take longer. Guess I will go in with an open mind and try to relax.

Re: Anybody have a HIDA scan- aka cholescintigraphy
I had this done about 10 years ago. They said nothing was wrong with my gallbladder. I had it removed suddenly in 2006 because it simply did not function. My surgeon said it should have been removed years ago.
I hope all goes well!
