Anybody live in or know anything about PA?
More specifically, the towns Kintnersville and Coopersburg?
I've fallen in love with this home : (Although the builder hasn't completed the inside. Just wish it was on more property. )
And then there's this 15 acre farm: (we want horses. )

Coopersburg is in Lehigh County and Kintnersville is in Bucks County. They're not too far from Allentown.
ETA: I don't know jack about PA!

My friend lives it Coopersburg. I haven't been there yet, but she has a GORGEOUS house. I don't think there's too much around though. She said they just built a beautiful outdoor shopping mall that sounds very nice. Before that, all she had was Kohl's. I think it's takes her approx. 2 and a half hours to drive to LI (on a good day.)

My sisters boyfriend lives outside of Allentown. Its a very grey, run down area IMO. Not a whole lot around.

not sure about those areas, but i think PA in general doesn't have much around.... my friend lives in Bloomsburg... shes got a gorgeous, brand new house that was unbeleiveably cheap, but she has to wait to visit her parents in NJ to do most of her shopping because the only things out by her are a walmart and a home depot.

I went to college in State College Pa (Penn State) and the area I was in was a college town and was very nice...But I could not STAND being in Central PA... I felt very isolated and surrounded by nothing. The only two areas in PA I would ever move to are outside of Philly and outside of Pittsburgh

Beautiful homes, wow!!
If you need a job in PA I know that Olympus America, Inc. moved out there last year and built a huge, gorgeous facility in Lehigh Valley.
I was working for them on LI for 4 years when they decided to relocate to PA... I still keep in touch with people who moved with them and they said it's gorgeous there.

Re: Anybody live in or know anything about PA?
I was born and raised in PA in Philadelphia. PA is the most rural state in the country. Philadelphia & Pittsburgh are the largest cities, even larger than the capital of Harrisburg. Most of the action is around the Philly & Pitt.
I also went to college in State College (Penn State) in Central PA. The rural areas of the state are very slow. Also Allegheny County (where Pitt is) is the county with the 2nd highest number of elderly people.
Bucks county is really nice, right outside Philadelphia. I also like Delaware & Montgomery Counties also in Southeastern PA.

I went to Penn State also and will vouch for the isolation of central pennsyvlania! Although, I did find it very beautiful, there's not much around. I would consider living outside Philly, but you couldn't pay me to live near Pittsburgh! PA is a BIG state and it takes about 6 hours just to cross it, I couldn't stand to be so far away from the east coast.
Although i don't know anything about the towns you mentioned, I've been to Lehigh and found it very nice.

Re: Anybody live in or know anything about PA?
Can't see the picture of the farm.
DH is from PA. We have 2 horses and will eventually (5-10 years) be moving out of state so we can have our own horse farm. Boarding here on LI is EXPENSIVE...
I'll ask DH if he knows about those areas. He's from Hershey. Growing up we had a summer home near Lake Wallenpaupack... but I'm not familiar with the areas you listed.
Have you ever had horses before?

No, but my DH is pretty familiar with them. His friends had them when he was growing up.

Re: Anybody live in or know anything about PA?
Thanks for the info girls!
And keep it coming if anybody knows anything else or has any other opinions!
Looks like we're going to head over to PA for a weekend and do some driving to check things out.
We'd like to keep DH's commute under 1.5 hours to Morris Plains, New Jersey, so we're kind of limited to where we can move to in PA.
We're still just researching the whole idea of moving, nothing is set in stone. (Figures DH becomes interested in moving as we're in th eprocess of renovating our home! )

Re: Anybody live in or know anything about PA?
My aunt lives in exeter outside reading. Reading is not so nice but the suburbs are. ALso some of the areas outside Philly are nice too. It is kind of weird how quickly it gets rural outside of the cities. I like it but be prepared for a major slow down in life. Lancaster county is one of my favorite places on earth but I guess the commute would be too long.

Re: Anybody live in or know anything about PA?
I've seen that first home you posted on realtor.com. It looks beautiful, and I can't believe the price! Long Island is crazy, you could never buy an 11,000 sq. ft. house for under 1 million.
