Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I would love to do acupuncture but it seems like a lot of $$$ added on to the huge amount I've already spent and what I'm about to spend....I don't know, how to you do it? How much are you paying?? I'm in the city and the one my RE reccomended seems very expensive.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I did accupuncture only when it was time for IVF because there seems to be pretty good evidence that it improves success rates. My insurance doesn't cover accupuncture and I pay $65 per visit (usually once per week). So far I have spent about $650 on accupuncture for right before, during, and after my IVF cycle. I was reluctant to do it as well because of the expense but I really wanted to stack the deck in my favor as much as possible. HTH!

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I did it for two cycles, didn't make a difference so I didn't do it after.
I think it has more to do with your mental state than anything. IMO, if the dollars are stressing you out - it would counteract the benefits of acupuncture.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I'm not.. yet.. I will try it in September when I get my full paychecks back though. I would love for DH to do it also to deal with his MF but, the both us would be too costly.

I agree, I've done it in the past when I could afford it, but I did not do it this past cycle and did get a bfp.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I didn't do it my first cycle and got a BFN so I figured, what can it hurt, I will do it for my next cycle.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I did it like clockwork my first IVF cycle, which turned out to be my worst cycle.
Did it sporadically my second, although the outcomes were a little better I still got a BFN.
For third cycle I did it just around retrieval & transfer and I am waiting for results.
I go to one place in nyc which is very expensive ($95) but I also go to a place in Astoria which is very reasonable ($40).
FM me if you want more info.

I couldn't afford for both of us to do it every week, so we went every other week, DH had slight volume problem..my acupunturist said it was better than nothing and DH had huge improvements in his numbers. I got PG 2 x of 4, unfortunately I had problems with both, nothing that acupuncutre could've helped with.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I'm doing it once per week. If anything it helps settle my nerves. I am an anxious person and it helps relax me and keep me centered.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I haven't tried it yet, but I think I am going to give it a try. It does seem like it can get costly, but I figure it can't hurt. I am pretty sure that I am going to go to the Berkley Center for Reproductive Wellness.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I would like to. But paying for it combined with actually being able to pull off getting an appointment due to my work schedule would totally offset the value/benefit of the acupuncture in the first place.

I just started, I pay $65.00. I only had 2 sessions so far, and I feel nice after.

Re: Anybody not doing acupuncture?
I'm doing it - I will be honest, I'm entirely skeptical about the benefits of acupuncture when it comes to IF. BUT, with that said, it does feel like meditation and I walk out of there feeilng 100% refreshed, which, in and of itself is worth its money in gold while going through the craziness of IF treatments.
