Anybody wash their Britax carseat cover?

Anybody wash their Britax carseat cover?
Did you handwash or use washing machine? I just read the book for my Roundabout and it said to hand wash, not to use machine. I'm wondering why I can't use the machine on gentle. I'm afraid it won't get clean enough if I just hand wash it.

I've washed all of my Britax Marathon carseat covers in the washing machine, then hang to dry. No problems.

Washing machine! AND I also dried them in my dryer on low, and they came out beautifully and did not shrink at all.
